SHARE Tuesday, July 31, 2018 Trump's impetuous whirlwind of unpredictability
Each day one wakes up wondering what the latest tweet from Trump will bring. The latest has him threatening to shut down the Fed'l Gov't. Then he wants to grant a $100 billion tax cut on capital gains. Trump's immigration & border wall excesses are unnecessary. So are his threats, provocations, sanctions. A whirlwind of unpredictability the perfect distraction deflecting att'n away from the military/industrial/security complex

The war of words has escalated between Trump & Iranian Pres. Rouhani w/ Trump tweeting, "NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES...this after Rouhani had said, "Do not play w/ the lion's tail or else you will regret it'. Beyond this war of words Europe holds the key. If they capitulate to US threats & stop buying Iran's oil a US confrontation w/ Iran is all the more likely.

Since Trump's summit w/ Putin on Monday it's been all Trump all the time. Now he's reversing himself blaming Russia for interfering w/ the election after cozying up to Putin that had Repubs become apoplectic over his comments w/ the Russian leader. That detente w/ Putin may have been accomplished by Trump is absolutely lost in the murky fog generated by the MSM. It's as if Trump was being Neville Chamberlain appeasing Hitler.

Trump is in Helsinki meeting w/ Russian Pres Vladimir Putin. We need to get past corporate MSM talking heads spouting Trump's a stooge of Putin. Let's get real. Any summit between the leaders of the world's two superpowers is a good thing. Besides the nuclear issue there's Syria, Ukraine, N.Korea, Iran. The summit won't resolve these issues. But it could bring detente, an ongoing dialogue & curtail the demonizing of Putin.

"How will YOU_DE-colonize our world, a question asked @ the "Making Peace With Earth" conference held @ the Omega Institute last weekend. Are we not the privileged descendents of the brutality initiated by our ancestors on the indigenous peoples?

Are the American people generally incurious over what its gov't does in its name in foreign affairs? Whether its initiating unnecessary wars to killing innocents in drone attacks or initiating coups in foreign countries it appears the American people do remain generally incurious to this reality? And if Americans are incurious of what it's gov't is doing in its name...that is deadly.

On this 4th of July holiday do we really need to have major league baseball players wearing stars & stripes on their uniforms, sox & hats? It's as if baseball has become an adjunct of the defense-war-dep't w/ all these promotions emulating some sort of trumped up patriotism. There was time when all you had was the Nat'l Anthem & that was it. Not any more.

Trump is to meet w/ Russian Pres. Putin in Helsinki July16. Coupled w/ Trump's summit w/ N.Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un in June he's on his own diplomatic mission few saw coming. But then there's Trump alienating allies in Europe seceding from the Iran nuclear deal, threatening countries w/ sanctions if they trade w/ Iran & then the policy of separating children from their parents @ the Mex. border. It's all rather quixotic.

Where else in the world, besides America would we see a frightened, screaming child being wrenched away from the arms of their parent, then taken away, placed in some detention facility while the parent is hauled off as an illegal alien to be deported? It is simply unconscionable.

There was rebellion in America in the late 1960's and early 70's on college campuses against the US war in Vietnam. Today there are serious activists protesting the environment, fracking, oil & gas pipelines et al but the protests remain single issue, siloed, separate from one another rather than interconnected & focused on their common adversary the elitist, imperialist, corporatist & elected gov't felons in charge in the US.

If the summit between Trump & N.Korean leader Kim Jong-un doesn't come off on June 12 in Singapore blame should be put on Trump's nat'l security adviser John Bolton. He said the Libyan model should be the template for negotiating the denuclearization of N.Korea. that was where Libyan Pres. Qaddafi gave up his nuclear materials to the US as a good faith gesture in 2003 only to murdered by US proxies in 2011. Kim isn't buying.

Today foreign ministers from the UK, France & Germany are to meet in Brussels w/ the foreign minister of Iran a week after Trump pulled the US from the Iran nuclear deal. A few minutes ago Pres. Trump pulled the US out of the P5&1 nuclear deal w/ Iran. All the reasons he gave for reneging on the deal were bogus. The IAEA inspectors as an integral part of the agreement certified on multiple times Iran was in full compliance in all terms of the deal which the US had agreed to in 2015. Every complaint Trump gave for withdrawal falls completely outside the parameters of the deal the US agreed to.

Last night "bunker buster" bombs hit a Syrian Army base north of the city of Homs killing some 20 Syrian Arab Army soldiers & Iranian troops among them. No country claimed responsibility for the attack but Israel & the US have those weapons. Make no mistake, if confirmed, the use of bunker busters by the Israeli's coordinating w/the US is an escalation in the Syrian conflict. It could lead to a hot war w/ Russia.
SHARE Friday, April 27, 2018 Kim and Moon meeting yesterday was just the beginning
Yesterday N. Korean leader Kim Jong-un met w/ S.Korean Pres. Moon @ the demilitarized zone separating the two Korea's. Though significant it was only the foundation to build on when Kim meets Trump in late May or early June. Trump's summit w/ Kim is what really matters. May 12 is the deadline for the US to recertify the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Trump wants the deal "fixed" by then or he'll w/draw the US. Iran says it won't renegotiate the deal. Though unrelated to Iran deal Trump has agreed to meet w/ N. Korean leader Kim Jong-un in late May or June. However if Trump reneges on the Iran deal how would that effect his meeting w/ Kim? Would they even meet? May & June a truly inauspicious time.

Let's face it Trump backed himself into a corner. He had to launch a missile strike on Syria to back up his tough talk earlier in the week accusing Pres. Assad of an alleged chemical attack killing his own people. Significantly no Russian military facility was hit. The strikes caused limited damage & no deaths. They did nothing to change the situation on the ground. All Damascus has been liberated & Assad is winning the war.
