Doug Thompson published his first story and photo at age 11 -- a newspaper article about racism and the Klan in Prince Edward County, VA, in 1958. From that point on, he decided to become a newspaperman and did just that -- reporting news and taking photos full-time at his hometown paper, becoming the youngest full-time reporter at The Roanoke Times in Virginia in 1965 and spent most of the past 55+ years covering news around the country and the globe. He spent a short sabbatical as a political operative in Washington in the 1980s but returned to the news profession in 1992. Today, he is a contract reporter/photojournalist for BHMedia and owns Capitol Hill Blue and other news sites.
SHARE Sunday, June 6, 2021 Trump shuts down his latest failure: A blog few read
Without Twitter or Facebook to repeat his lies, disgraced and defeated Donald Trump thought blogging would get his delusions out to his dwindling list of supporters to raise money and bring an outcry from misinformed for a run for the presidency in 2024.

(5 comments) SHARE Wednesday, October 16, 2019 Donald Trump is killing America
Under the control of a debased, corrupt Donald Trump, the con man who claimed he would "make America great again," the once land of the free and home of the brave has become the toxic swamp of a madman, wannabe dictator who plunders and loots at will.

America's bombastic, and usually lying, president complains over and over that Fox News no longer works for him. "Fox isn't working for us anymore," Donald Trump says in one of his usual tsunami of Twitter "tweets." "We have to start looking for a new News outlet," he adds. "The new Fox News is letting millions of great people down."

Trump went to Britain and Europe this week not to remember the Americans and allies that fought and died on D-Day but to enrich his businesses, use taxpayer money to give his children a lavish vacation and tout accomplishments that don't exist and a presidency laid low by lies and dishonor.
(9 comments) SHARE Sunday, April 7, 2019 Donald Trump is a murderer
Trump's actions result in unnecessary and needless deaths throughout America. Thousands of U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico died because Trump intentionally delayed needed rescue efforts during disasters. Thousands have been slaughtered by the heinous white supremacists Trump emboldened by his unwillingness to condemn their actions and called them, as Krugman noted, "very fine people."
SHARE Sunday, July 8, 2018 Donald Trump: Racist, bigot, hater and crook
"When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas," claims an old saying. Those who endorse and support Trump should be scratching until their skin bleeds. Donald Trump is a racist, a bigot, a hater and a corrupt man who is looting America to serve his personal greed and massive ego.

Vandals spray painted "Trump nation. Whites only" on an Episcopal church in Maryland. In central Indiana, an anti-gay slur and "HEIL TRUMP" were spray painted on an Episcopal Church. The increase in such incidents shows too much anger, intolerance, hate, bigotry and racism still exists in America.
It certainly does in Donald Trump's America.
(5 comments) SHARE Sunday, June 5, 2016 The fall of Trump's house of cards?
Some people who have real money have been whispering for months that Trump is nowhere as rich as he claims and is debt up to his ass, paying overdue bills with money raised in fraudulent schemes like "Trump University" and by turning a run for President into an endless "infomercial" to hawk his "brand" by even using campaign press conferences to promote his wine, his steaks, water and even playing cards.
(3 comments) SHARE Sunday, April 10, 2016 Trump: Poster boy for white trash
Republican presidential wannabe and class clown Donald Trump is a pompous, vulgar, obscenity-spouting liar who grunts and waves his arms like a phony "professional" wrestler, inflames domestic tensions and scares the hell out of just about anyone with common sense or an IQ above that of an average plant.
(6 comments) SHARE Friday, April 4, 2014 America's fruitless search for a real leader
As President, Obama is not a leader and has lost much of his celebrity luster. He promised "the most transparent administration" in recent years but has delivered just the opposite, concealing actions, fighting freedom of information requests and misusing the "national security" excuse to hide many documents and issues.
(11 comments) SHARE Sunday, November 3, 2013 Can, or should, America be saved?
While I agree that America as a nation is in trouble and most likely headed for even more problems, I cannot subscribe to the theory that the end is near. We've been down before. We've faced crisis and even the threat of oblivion before but this nation is a collection of stubborn types who refuse to give up and who, somehow, find a way to survive.
(2 comments) SHARE Friday, October 25, 2013 Yes, I worked for Republicans but, thankfully, I never became one
I cannot, and will not, ever consider my time as a GOP political operative a career highlight or something for which to be proud. What I learned about the political process in more than a dozen years serves me well as a journalist. It taught me that political corruption is not limited to a single political party and that no party or political organization puts America ahead of its own interests or selfish agendas.

Did the tea party learn its lesson in the debacle that technically ended last night with votes in the Senate and House? Based on public statements by the hard-core TP types who genuflect to falsely-claimed values, the answer is "no way" and the group has shown little ability to learn from its many past mistakes. But when all is said and done, the biggest loser was America itself and those who call this nation home.
(7 comments) SHARE Thursday, October 10, 2013 John Boehner: When drunks lead Congress, disaster is the only option
Most of those who hold public office are drunk with the intoxication of power. Republicans, we are learning more and more, are led by a Speaker of the House who is not only drunk from power but also, based on his actions and the smell that accompanies him, is blasted from the effects of too much booze.
