I see that Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger, a former military officer, has said that he would vote for a ban on the sale of AR-15-type rifles. It''s too bad that since he courageously took part in the January 6th Committee, his Party, trapped in the coils if Donald Trump's cult of personality, has largely ostracized such a rational and law-abiding lawmaker and potential leader, and he's retiring from Congress at the end of this term.

I also see that after inexplicably being found not guilty on all charges, teen-age shooter Kyle Rittenhouse has decided he really likes being an icon for gun enthusiasts ready and willing to kill people for their Second Amendment Rights. We find him taunting President Biden ("Come and try to take my guns!") while firing "a slew of bullets" from a fully-automatic firearm at a firing range.

Whose full-auto is it? Even if there was a legislative majority willing to pass laws that might strengthen regulations against teenagers becoming mass killers, it is not likely that any such laws are going to stop some person so completely bereft of social responsibility that they are willing to help a Kyle Rittenhouse get training in the use of fully-automatic firearms.
