Enter that pesky future, something the GOP doesn't think about unless it's related to oil.
Years passed, and families grew. They put faith and hope in the life you made attainable with limited risk, to them and their families. And like all parents, they wanted better for their children, and they were grateful for the sanctuary and opportunity America provided.
In 2012, President Obama introduced the DACA program, which protected those young enough to qualify, from being deported due to their undocumented status. Recipients had to provide proof of education and identity, including finger prints and a background checks. If they made the grade, they were charged a fee, and accepted on a renewal basis into the DACA program.
Parents and children gave a sigh of relief.
Until now.
Republicans seek to dismantle DACA and rescind its protection for the young immigrants dubbed as Dreamers.
These are the same families the GOP encouraged to settle in and take hold of the American dream. Not up front, of course, but by allowing the establishment to use and take advantage of their status and wanting for a better life.
Our government fathered these dreamers with stars in their eyes. It's their responsibility to make certain they aren't left cold and abandoned from a situation in which they had no control.
GOP -- don't be a deadbeat dad. Man up and act like you give a damn. 800,000 lives depend on your actions and compassion.
To be honest, I don't have much confidence in deadbeat dads. They're selfish, greedy and never give issues the attention they deserve.
Republicans -- these young adults are reaching out for your hand. You can make it a strong and caring one -- or slap them away. The choice is yours.
