So how could these critical thinkers be stopped? Killing them all is not a viable strategy really. It runs the risk of proving there is a cover up. And the old adage that "You can't kill an idea" is apparent. Once a logical, evidence based argument is made, it is very hard to eliminate the truth from spreading. So what to do? The answer was clear. The critical thinker must be undermined as unreliable, delusional, insane and dangerous. The entire campaign against these individuals must focus SOLELY on his or her credibility as a person and must never discuss the actual merits of the case. The powerful decided to establish the "conspiracy theorist", a straw man identity as a counter culturalist, an anarchist, disrespectful, unpatriotic and wacko. The powerful would use character smears and ad hominem attacks, specifically to avoid the facts, because on that turf, the powerful only expose the flaws of their own ridiculous narrative.
In addition to this, they would use an old tactic borrowed from religious organizations - doubt shaming. If you have ever said something and the response to your question is, "How could you possibly ask such a disrespectful question?! Do you think (insert organization putting forth the official, if shaky narrative here) would EVER do such a thing?" You may be called unpatriotic, uncaring to victims of said incident, or -- evil. These ad hominem attacks are specifically meant to avoid talking about the facts.
Even more shocking, at the center of Trump's bid for the presidency is a long time, twice convicted pedophile named George Nadar.

Trump Campaign Worked Closely With Convicted Pedophile The Republican Party seems to be a magnet for men who like to prey on children, and the Trump campaign was no exception. A convicted pedophile by the ...

And Erik Prince, who Jones would have assailed as a corporatist war profiteer, has close ties with the campaign.

Trump in fact has always been a globalist, a corporatist and has shown zero real allegiance to any nation, much less the United States. Think about it. Trump has been in office for almost 4 years. After saying he would release the names of those in the Saudi government who participated in the 9/11 attacks, why has he failed to do so? With all the power he has and his obvious disregard for protocol and the law, his penchant for blurting out information about national security on twitter, surely he could have told the American people the truth about some of the lies that were covered up by the previous administrations.
Not only that, but mountains of evidence have come to light exposing Trump's coziness with the Saudis. In the wake of the murder of Jamal Kashoggi Trump repeatedly defended MBS, repeating false claims by the Saudis, only to be proven to be false later. When the truth of Kashoggis brutal murder could no longer be denied, Trump simply said it didn't matter - in the long run selling weapons to the Saudis was more important. Trump continued the Bush/Obama spying on American citizens, the Israeli designed Pegasus software which allows spying on phones has been shared by this trifecta to track and suppress dissidents. Trump spews factless rhetoric, gobbled up by his base because it is an entertaining story, a story that makes them happy to indulge in, because he tells them what they want to hear.

He endorses a new breed of conspiracy theory, fueled by anti government sentiment, hero worship, rife with factless innuendo, and often laced with racism and dressed in iconography. Like pro wrestling its all about the show, no one cares it's real or staged.
At some point, the goal of this operation is to strip away a focus on the facts while maintaining the momentum of the original conspiracy movement - which was a desire to bring down the powerful.
It is sad now to see so many of those original seekers of truth, who were willing to focus on fact regardless of partisan measure, to follow the evidence where it leads become mere tools in the Trump war on the truth. Those once warning of fascism coming to America wrapped in a flag or on the heels of needed security, now applaud as Trump uses the department of "Homeland Security" to suppress dissent.
While Alex Jones once warned of UN trucks rounding us all up and taking us to Obama's FEMA camps, he now applauds as Trump uses federal police to attack American citizens, where mass arrests are taking place. While software developed by Israel and shared with Muhammed Bin Salman allows MBS to find, abduct and kill his political enemies and dissidents, Trump salivates over the prospect of locking up and executing his own enemies. How long will this delusion last, that Trump is here to eliminate the deep state reign?
At the end of the C-Span presentation a question is asked about attacking the legitimacy of government, asking what will exist in the power vacuum that will come after "government" is brought down. Jones quickly jumps in to assert, "Our government has already collapsed. A shadow government controlled by private corporate interests has already seized this nation. So we don't have a choice, it has collapsed."
After several panelists offer cynical comments about the illegitimacy of voting etc the questioner tries again, "But in the power vacuum that will come after, how do you stop the global elite from coming in and taking over" To this Jones resplies, "Duty is ours, consequence belongs to God."
I wonder if, like many of his followers, Jones believes Trump is God.
