I think you could even argue it goes back to the pardon of Nixon. Putting him behind bars would have made it very clear that we are a nation of laws.
I really don't know for sure what the political ramifications of impeachment would be. My suspicion is that the "American people" would by and large accept an impeachment.
However, I worry that the propaganda establishment (Tim Russert, FOX, etc.) would punish the Democrats severely, so I guess you could say that I am afraid of impeaching Bush before the election.
But after the election, there will still be two and a half months to go, and if we don't impeach him, at least we should set in stage a process for bringing him to justice in the legal system after his presidency is over.
If the next generation of American kids grow up learning that we had a presidential administration that lied its way into war, that rewrote congressional legislation by fiat, and that held secret tribunals, then the prospects for our constitution surviving any sort of political upheaval are quite bleak indeed.
p.s.: I have no problems with Kucinich or his supporters. My grandpa is a diehard fan of Dennis.
You should listen to your elders. They know a thing or two about American politics.
What this shows is that Americans like Jed are drinking the Kool-Aid that Edwards and Obama are handing out at campaign stops and before, during, and after debates. It shows that we have a problem because people do not understand the situation that we are in.
As long as people like Jed fail to imagine taking leaps of great faith---as long as they continue to agree to settle for less when we could have so much more, we will inch closer and closer towards a permanent fascist nation.
And I am not for that. And so that is why despite the fact that I appreciate the candid conversation Jed gave me, I must be argumentative and confrontational with people who make ignorant and naive websites like HillaryAttacks.com.
In fact, every American should be "impolite" and "arrogant" now. This isn't a recreational activity anymore. Blogging is no longer a hobby. It has serious ramifications. So, let's have fun but let's make sure talk is logical, reasonable, and conducive to the future of America.
