it found this spot

to grow, for there is

nothing else around?

I could not have

survived here

with all my reasoning,

blinded by this hot and dry.

Yet, this unthinking thing lived

where I would die.

Why struggle to survive

in a barren land

when these limbs will only lie

someday to feed the sand?

What was this will that

lived within this tree

that lives in me

and cannot die?
