That speaks volumes.
And perhaps it tells us all we need to know about Mike Pence: he doesn't even recognize the stunt was precisely the type of behavior Jesus condemns. For Mike Pence, Donald J. Trump comes first. Even before Jesus.
Jesus taught what it meant to be his follower. He was specific: humility, honesty, kindness, loving others despite how they treat you. And feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, cloth the naked, take care of the sick, visit those in prison, and welcome the stranger. To do these things to the least is to do them for Jesus. Failure to do these things for the least is failing to do them for Jesus. (See Matthew 25:31-46).
But Donald J. Trump doesn't agree.
