They Call Him a "Godly President"?

On this "walk," made possible by military and police using tear gas against journalists, reporters, and peaceful, law-abiding people beating them with batons as they fled, Donald J. Trump doesn't even carry his own Bible. His daughter carried it in a bag worth nearly twice the average weekly salary in America.

Can anyone imagine Jesus of the Gospels doing anything remotely similar? If one of the Disciples did something like this, what do we imagine Jesus would have said? "Well done my true and faithful servant"?

I don't think so.

He would have condemned it.

He would have called it out for the hypocrisy that it was. He would have expounded on the false piety, the deception, the self-promotion, the complete lack of humility. And this would have been for the photo op alone. One can only imagine the condemnation Jesus would have brought down for the violence used to make the photo op possible.

And during all this, where in the world was Mike Pence?

After all his participation in the planning behind the scenes, where in the world was Mike Pence?

He decided it was better not to go. But afterwards, he said he would have been proud to have walked "shoulder to shoulder" with Donald J. Trump that day.
