Axe the Filibuster and Pass HR 1 The Democrats own an abiding debt to Blacks, who have been steadfast supporters of the party in its modern incarnation, to guarantee their voting rights, instead of standing by as the Republicans steamroll voter exclusion.

Why Texas Trumpster Governor Is Letting COVID Rage There may be several cynical and deadly reasons that Texas Governor Greg Abbott completely abandoned any COVID restrictions in the second most populous state in the US. Texas has been a hotbed of COVID denialism among its entirely GOP executive branch.

What Happened When Israeli Schools Opened Early? Science clearly informs us that premature opening of schools in-person will lead to student, teacher and extended family infection, and for some older persons (including teachers) death.

Trump Intentionally Let the Coronavirus "Wash Over" America, a Failure by Design It is astonishing that the media, in general, is letting Trump (who has been proven to be a mentally-ill man many times over) adopt the narrative about "opening the economy up" when the small outside-the-home workforce in place is becoming increasingly infected.

How Could Socialism Be Boring? It's a System Run By and For People Danny Katch, author of "Socialism ... Seriously: A Brief Guide to Human Liberation," discusses the inherent flaw of the assertion that capitalism equals democracy.

Right Wing is Ginning Up the Outrage Against TSA to Privatize Airport Security and Prevent Unionization It is important to remember that the current outrage -- while personally understandable -- against the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) intrusive technology and pat-downs just happens to fit the anti-government narrative of both the Tea Party and mainstream Republicans in Congress.

There Simply Aren't Enough Jobs to Employ Four out of Five Unemployed Americans Contrary to GOP talking points, receiving unemployment checks does not make people lazy, although it might make them anxious and depressed because there are no jobs for 80 percent of the people seeking them.

Mitch McConnell's Number One Goal is Not Helping Americans; It's Defeating President Obama Asked what his party's main political job will be in the new Congress, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell answered, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President [Barack] Obama to be a one-term president."

Martin Luther King Had a Dream and Glenn Beck Was Not in It Glenn Beck's desecration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King and his ongoing coded racism are just two examples of whose side he is in the religious firmament, and it's not the side of the angels.

Message from Mars: Psycho GOP TX State Rep Claims "Jihad Moms" are Bearing Children in U.S. as Terrorist Moles These psychos are like some rumor mongers out of the medieval ages, and they are dragging America backwards into the dark ages. They talk about procreating terrorists and "anchor babies," but they are the real anchors, pulling America down and preventing progress as the nation is in need of smart strategic thinking, not schizophrenic messages from Mars.

Andrew Breitbart Smells Like Bad Ass, And It's Time the White House Started Dousing Him with the Disinfectant of Truth Breitbart claims that he is an upholder of morality and some higher ground of an America who has lost its principles, when he is a shining example of just how badly we have lost our bearings; he operates from the gutter and seeks to create a paternalistic nation of oligarchical rule.

Courageous, Fierce, Brazen: 3 Words You'll Never Hear Applied to the Democrats in D.C. Leadership requires those adjectives that the Democrats in D.C. scurry away from: courage, boldness, conviction. There is no Wizard of Oz. If the Dems want to speak with conviction and fearlessnes, they will have to summon the courage themselves -- and there's been little indication that they have the inherent capacity to do so.

A GOP Senator Who Denounces Supreme Court "Judicial Activism" is Like Being a Vegetarian Who Owns a Slaughterhouse In order to celebrate our independence, it's time to re-dedicate ourselves to regaining our Constitution, our rights, and the supremacy of the individual over institutions such as corporations. That's not "judicial activism"; that's the original intent of the foundation of our laws.

We Have a Corporate Media That Covers up the Truth Instead of Uncovering the Truth: That's a Problem Real journalists who aren't yet corrupted by the lure of wealth try to uncover the truth. But those who climb the ladder of fame and high salaries of the corporate media learn quickly that their jobs are to cover up the truth, and our nation suffers grievously for it.

"In Guns We Trust": New Supreme Court Motto for U.S. It is the handgun that makes so many white males feel impregnable, as if they were riding around with a turret gun in a Hummer. It's a vestige of the Confederacy; "I'm a white man and that allows me to do whatever I want and get away with it, so don't mess with me." It's not about the Constitution; it's about a hormonal psychology under siege.

Afghanistan, America's Longest War, and the Perfect Arc of Failure Nothing has changed to improve our security in Afghanistan or Pakistan except that the area is even more volatile now. Nothing has changed except that a lot of contractors got rich, a lot of military higher ups got promoted, and a lot of politicians got to pretend they were Wyatt Earp.

Afghanistan, America's Longest War, and the Perfect Arc of Failure The errant policy followed by both the Bush and Obama administrations has led us into a situation where we will be just where we were before the invasion of Afghanistan began. This is a failure of such stunning proportion that it would be a farce were it not so deadly, costly, and harmful to the American nation and what is needed to move us forward domestically.

We Thought We Were Electing a Prius, and Got a Tank Instead: The Last Gasps of Empire' President Obama has turned out to be perhaps the last President with the opportunity to cut us free from the past. And, instead, he holds onto that anchor is if it were a life jacket as it pulls us down, leaving us to look longingly at what might save us from afar. The promise of an evolving and sustainable America is within our reach, but thus far not within Obama's grasp.

When Congress Becomes a Subsidiary of Corporations, Democracy and the Free Market are Dead and Buried The return to our revolutionary roots of a people's democracy that triumphs over corrupt institutions begins -- as it did at Lexington and Concord -- with us. No violence is needed or wanted; just the power of the people, by the people and for the people.

BP: Eco-Terrorism Inc. They Should be Prosecuted, Tried and Convicted Under Eco-Terrorism Laws Passed by the Right Wing BP was too cheap to use methods that might have prevented the Gulf disaster and it lied to the government about having any real semblance of a safety plan. It has a long history of knowingly not taking adequate steps to prevent spills because BP figured that there was more profit in being fined than in the cost of preventing spills in the first place. If this isn't eco-terrorism, what is?
