Haters will hate. They will try to call out Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her youth, 'inexperience,' and her unabashed and unapologetic progressivism. But she is from a generation that is not only seen but living through the ills of an economic system that has screwed most if even with the semblance of prosperity for some as a few take most.

Many continue to wonder why this 29-year-old woman is getting attacked from the Political Establishment from the Left and Right. Why would a purportedly Progressive Senator use Right Wing talking points to attack one of the signature parts of the Green New Deal? It is because the Green New Deal is practical, inclusive, and ensures that the spoils are available to all as opposed to the controlling few. Most importantly, in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez they have not only a competent and effective spokesperson, but one who understands the relevance of the resolution, the past ills, why, and how the Green New Deal solves them.

The Right is trying to portray Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as dumb. I interviewed her a few months before she won her primary election. I told her then she would win her primary. I found her fast thinking, knowledgeable, and kind. The caricature they are trying to make of her is just that.

Chris Hayes interviewed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who gave a stellar performance illustrating her knowledge of the Green New Deal and much more. The Q&A that MSNBC did not air is worth a watch. It further demonstrates that if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lives up to her rhetoric along with the other justice Democrats, and subsequent ones who will purge those who do not represent the will of their districts, change will come.

The four snippets from the show I discuss in this post is mostly to illustrate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez political savvy as well as her knowledge on the issues given her ability to handle some of the impromptu misdirections. I missed one, however, where she mentioned that one of the aspects of the Green New Deal could be implemented right away by funding coal miners' pensions in West Virginia. It is a personalization that ensures we inform Americans who don't realize it, that they are stakeholders as well.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shows why she is a force

The four snippets I discuss below are politically crucial for the reasons I explain in the video. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez displayed her political savvy.

  • How did she handle the word socialism trope? Ironically, I gave a similar response to one of my Politics Done Right listeners recently.
  • When a Conservative panelist attempted to equate Progressives to a Left-Wing version of the Tea Party, she was ready to provide the distinction and then morphed it into our movement being people-based and the Right and Establishment side being corporate-based.
  • When Chris Hayes showed Ocasio-Cortez the hyperventilation of the leaders and pundits of the GOP and the Right, she summarily dismissed them in a manner that pointed out the shallowness of their thought process.
  • And lastly, when a likely Progressive heckler insulted the Conservative panelist, she immediately called him out and contrasted herself with Donald Trump, one of the only times they mentioned him.

I enjoyed watching the entire program as well as the extras online. It is great listening to a politician who can speak because no one owns them. They are accountable to the people.

Looks to me like perhaps Cortez needs to start listening to, and acting for, her actual constituents, lest she be ousted in two years:

Vitaliano told The Post: "She has to address these local issues. Her district is everywhere else in the US. Her heart is not in The Bronx."

By contrast, he said, residents' needs received much more attention under Rep. Joe Crowley, whom Ocasio-Cortez unseated in a surprise primary upset last year.

Forget the Post if you wish. It's pretty obvious and apparent that she's devoting way more time to national issues than she is to those exclusive to her district or even state. When she has, like the Amazon deal, she went against 70% of her constituents who approved of the deal. She's helping potential primary or general challengers build a strong case that she's neglecting/ignoring her voters. No matter how much money she raises, if that rings true to people, she's toast.

So, if one wants to see her continue in office, one should advise her to nip this issue in the bud, and focus on her district a little more.

The interview was conducted in the midst of her constituents and it was evident they were all in.

In fact that particular gathering, right there in her own district, helps illustrate my point. It was all about focusing on a non-District 14 issue, and obviously, (and understandably) nobody concerned about local issues over the GND would have been allowed to voice that.

So imagine all the people sitting home in the Bronx and Queens watching that and thinking ..... my God, here I'm working three jobs to pay the rent on this crappy apartment and the only thing she seems interested in is this grand scheme that would only make things more expensive, and maybe even threaten my jobs. I had hopes of getting one of those Amazon jobs, but in large part thanks to her, that's out the window.

Donald Trump could and did hold rallies in New York and attract thousands of people who are/were "all in." But of course that wouldn't be/wasn't an indicator of who ends/ended up winning New York.

AOC is great! She is leading in the direction we need to go if we, as a country, want to become reacquainted with morals or compassion. I'll help her if I can.
