One of my favorite songs when I was a kid was the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again." The ending of the song speaks to my passion to foster a different paradigm. While I loved the song, what I disagreed with was the passive ending:
"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
"That's not ok," was my response. In fact, the submissiveness of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss," or, as they say in West Virginia, "same sh*t different day" really got my goat.
My reaction to this line is foundational to my writing of Sophia's Web as well as posting articles here on OpEd and co hosting "Envision This!" with my wife.
Yes, my goal is not for you to buy my vision of a new world. Rather, the goal is for US to change. By US, I mean everyone in in all our states be we black, white, green, liberal, conservative, abused, loved, woman or man.
To go deeper into this, let's explore an example of opposites.
As an experiment, (you can do this in your mind or act it out), take your right hand and violently slap the left side of your face. If you act it out, please let me know when the ambulance comes to take you to the psychiatric ward. And, do share what drugs they give you. Don't just tell me about it. Just send me some to.
Opposites are mirror images.
The saying, "love thy neighbor
(or in some versions, enemy) as thyself" is more than a request to be
nice. (I always love speaking to the
female and male body in this regard. A
woman's genitals are upward and inwards, from vagina to ovaries while a man's
are down and out / penis and testicles).
