Jan. 20, 2025 WASHINGTON, D.C. Self-described Freedom-fighter Ron DeSantis gave the shortest Inaugural Address ever as he was sworn in today as the 47th president of the United States.

"I will end the American Carnage immediately," he declared before leaving the podium to race to the White House where he signed an Executive Order instituting Martial Law.

The decree, lauded by conservatives and some people who decried the supposed tyranny of the defeated Biden administration, ordered all local, county, and state law enforcement agencies to work under the direction of the U.S. Department of Justice. DeSantis, who supported Covid lockdowns before he opposed them, who backed Covid vaccines before he started trashing them, explained his order this way: "As a great American songwriter might have said, 'Tyranny's just another word for freedom when hoodlums are wilding in our streets.'" The reference to a song, written by Kris Kristofferson and made famous by Janis Joplin, took aim at the nearly million murders occurring in the country during the last two years of the vanquished Biden presidency. Ironically, DeSantis and many other Americans didn't discuss death when about a million Americans died from Covid in a two-year period. Evening talkers on Fox News were some of the loudest voices charging tyranny at any government attempt to stop the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus. Now, though, Fox News, along with DeSantis and his supporters, want strong government action to stop the killing in our streets. Bill O'Reilly even made a guest appearance during a prime-time Fox News show tonight to state:

"Liberals are responsible for all of these murders. That is why Biden was driven from office. Sadly, some supposedly bleeding-heart liberals dismiss the high incidence of murder by contending that most of those killed are elderly, suffer from a compromised immune system, or are ill with a variety of potentially life-threatening conditions. In short, these hypocritical liberals tell us that most of the American souls who have been murdered were on their last leg anyway."

Steve Schneider, a Florida commentator who hardly gets any hits on the internet, countered these attitudes on his poorly read free Substack newsletter, "What's Going On." He wrote:

"People continue to die from Covid. Many more of our neighbors are dying at the hands of murderers. We need tolerance for all thoughts as we fight to keep hope alive; just as we keep people alive. We need to protect all lives. Only protecting some means we are protecting none."

Florida resident and newly prominent Fox News guest commentator Lisa Boothe made a veiled reply when she sat in for Laura Ingraham, who was busy celebrating news reports that another enemy of the state came down with Covid. Boothe said:

"Let's Go Brandon. These liberals are destroying our nation."
