It is practically impossible, if not morally irresponsible to understate the degree of peril America's democratic institutions and processes face in these months leading to November's mid-term elections stemming from the flagrant illegality of Trump's decision-making and behavior pattern leading up to the January 6 insurrection.

As reported in an October 2021 article in Politico, in the months leading to the Committee's opening hearing, Trump had been ordering potential January 6 witnesses to claim executive privilege and resist subpoenas.

Among those who obediently complied with Trump's "no snitching" mandate were his own former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former chief strategist Steve Bannon, former media head Dan Scavino, Kash Patel, formerly of the Defense Department, and a gaggle of his most ardent congressional lickspittles: Ohio's Jim Jordan, California's Kevin McCarthy, Florida's Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert of Texas, and of course, Florida's Marjorie Taylor Greene.
