Consciousness fields do not have sharp borders and can overlap and intersect with others. This suggests that humans may be inter-connected with each other to a more profound degree than we have previously realized. As Larry Dossey, M.D. (author of One Mind: How Our Individual Mind is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why it Matters, and Healing Words: The Power of Prayer and the Practice of Medicine), stated,
"If nonlocal mind is a reality, the world becomes a place of interaction and connection, not one of isolation and disjunction."
In an interview with Michael Toms (New Dimensions Radio), Dossey also said,
"Einstein... had no idea of himself as a separate entity... He certainly had the idea that his consciousness was connected with everyone else's."

The urgings for change we beginning to feel - in ourselves, our social systems and our paradigms - are our response to changes in our "consciousness grid". Our planet's consciousness grid is made of billions of subfields - all life-forms and social structures interacting.
Ultimately, however, as noted above, our earth's consciousness grid is a manifestation of the unitary, one consciousness. As we evolve, we begin to understand that: what we are is that, which the "one consciousness" - the infinite field - has brought into focus.
Although there is an encompassing wholeness, the "consciousness grid" on our planet it is not an undifferentiated "oneness." Within this wholeness is diversity: specific patterns, which encompass our individual experiences and points of view. From this perspective, paradigms can be seen as focusing devices for our perceptions and thoughts: blueprints for our calling various realities into existence.
We are beginning to sense new currents in the ocean of consciousness. Einstein was at the tip of this wave, stating:
"A human being is a part of the whole, called by us 'Universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
"This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
