In order to heal, Powell and Menedian assert:
[T]hat the only viable solution to the problem of othering is one involving inclusion and belongingness. The most important good we distribute to each other in society is membership. The right to belong is prior to all other distributive decisions....we need a vision of society that is inclusive....that inoculate{s} societies from demagoguery and demonization of the "other" while improving the well-being of everyone.
We must conquer the problem of delusion. We must end it as a norm. We must heal the fear which engenders it by making the unity of our interconnected "reality" an actual harmonious experience felt by all. We must all belong.
