Property
owners are entitled to a generous compensation if through eminent domain the
government needs to seize the property for a higher, socially justifiable
purpose, such as necessary road construction, for example.
7.
No
person shall be tried for a serious crime unless there is a Grand Jury
indictment that states valid reasons for the upcoming court trial.
8. No person
shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property unless there is due process (or
fair procedures) in carrying out the law.
9. In all
criminal cases and prosecutions:
A.
The
accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury
in the district where the crime was committed.
B. The accused
must be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation.
C. The accused
has a right to a counselor who may or may not be an attorney. The accused, or a
counselor of the accused, may confront (or cross examine) all witnesses
testifying against him or her.
D. The accused
may require witnesses to testify if the witnesses have important information to
share in the case.
