Meanwhile, the airlines are looking into whether or not they will press legal action against the protesters.  The courts must then determine whether the airport demonstrations should be classified as a riot or as civil unrest.  The PAD says it is ready for possible legal action because it raised funds for its defense. 

 

Everyone wants a return to normalcy, of course, however, will it be possible when a reputedly peaceful country like Thailand is disrupted in the way it was this past week? 

 

Yesterday morning I called my aunt to tell her of my aborted trip.  Although she was the one who inspired the travel bug in me, she was now warning me to “Stay home and be safe.  Don’t go looking for challenges.”  She is 79 and enjoyed many travels throughout her adult life.  I just started mine 25 years ago and want to spend the next 25 on the road.  Then there is the next generation. Where will they be able to go if more Black Swans like Thailand occur? 

 

It appears we’ll all be left “up in the air” before we can answer that one.  Meanwhile, we will have to deal with the “new normal” where a few people can halt a whole nation—and affect the world.
