I go to the supermarket and everywhere I look, I see depressed faces. No wonder. I’m in sticker shock everywhere I turn, and that’s after filling up my tank at the bargain price of $3.179 a gallon.
But George Bush and the Dem congress have cobbled together a $600 “fix” for the economy. Whoopee doo!
Big surprise—81% of voters say the US is heading in the wrong direction.
So why are Hillary AND Obama trying to look like Republicans lite? Why are they afraid to take real, solid stands on the big issues? Why aren’t the Democrats in congress taking more strident action?
I’ll tell you why. It’s because all these dems—in congress, in the primaries—they think they’re pretty sure to win if things stay this bad. That’s the same reason they’re not starting impeachment hearings on blatant criminals Bush and Cheney.
But if they wait too long things may really get out of control. As the dollar drops in value and wheat and corn get cheaper for export, we may find both a gallon of gasoline and a loaf of bread costing more than $5, soda, which uses corn syrup, costing three bucks a bottle. And that trip to Orlando, to Disneyland you were planning with your kids, or grandkids? My guess is that Disney will lower the price of tickets to lure people… because the price of airfare is going to skyrocket. Budget airlines are going out of business, big operations are merging and going through difficulties meeting safety requirements. Pretty soon, taking a flight will be for the wealthy. The gap between rich and poor will affect how and where we travel.
America is in a tailspin. The cowards and criminals in control are not worried about it. There’s a lot of money to be made in shorting stocks and commodities. The Milton Friedman economic theory of laisse faire economics encourages leaving things alone, deregulating, letting the chips fall where they may,—which, as Naomi Klein has desrcribed in SHOCK DOCTRINE, hits the middle class and poor the hardest.
John McCain says to not over-react. HELLO! The US economy is in free fall heading for the worst economic disaster in 100 years or more. And what do the mainstream media focus on—the latest collapsed or fallen crane, or the latest house on fire. When do we reach the point when the mainstream media get their plugs pulled for totally failing to do the job of covering the real news? The important news? I’m just about ready to start a webiste that let’s people register what drives them to change the channel, like stupid news, obnoxious ads, offensive anchors…
