And yet could America be a right-wing nation of closet lefties?
Sure, there are millions of lefties out there and a full 81%, according to that latest poll who basically things suck here in the US of A. So why aren’t things being addressed better? Why aren’t the elected officials doing what it takes?
I’ll tell you why. They are afraid. Things look safe for the next election cycle. They’re doing great raising money. They right wingers are on the run… So why rock the boat with wild liberal ideas? Why? Because it will take liberal, progressive-- whatever word you choose to use—ideas, values, visions and policies to rescue America from the failed visions of right wingers, neocon, Milton Friedman economic koolaid drinking cultists, tax dodging skinflint sociopathic parasites like Grover Norquist who have intentionally done all they could to starve and weaken good, responsible government.
People are going to starve—meaning they will be buying dogfood, catsup, doing dumpster diving for discards—and they are already dying because they don’t have the money to pay for medical care. This is shameful and immoral. Particularly for the rightwinger Christians leaders who back the policies that starve and deprive people of healthcare, like James Dobson and John Hagee.
If you have been an activist for a while, the chance is that your legislator takes you for granted. You need to go out and get your friends, relatives and neighbors to raise THEIR voices. What do you tell them? They need to insist that their legislators show some courage, take some risks and act with vision. Nothing less will do.
Well? What are you waiting for? Go to it!
