The Iraqi government has just taken another month off. But, some violence has been subdued at least for the time being. It’s time to prove to the world that this isn’t a colonial war.
I realize basically everyone on this website agrees with me on the whole “getting out of Iraq” issue, as does 60-70 percent of America, and maybe if we didn’t have impotents in congress, some progress might be made on the subject.
And I’m not one for conspiracies (okay, I am), but if there ever was a conspiracy it would be the way both parties have baited for power over the last seven years, with nothing coming out of it besides failure. As I’ve already said, the Republicans fooled the public into the terror alerts even though 9/11 was a simple neglect of evidence due to sheer laziness on the president and his staff. The Democrats have gone along with the war and domestic surveillance despite knowing it all unconstitutional, to be seen as tough and not “anti-American”, as they have been called by the phony outrage base, a statement so authoritarian it’s almost as if Mao himself were writing the neocon script.
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi could have cut off the funds for the war, but they’re still scared by the “support the troops” rhetoric coming out of the bottom ten percent of each high school class over the past half century. You can’t support the troops by going along with lies that kill them for reasons unknown. No one told Eisenhower he didn’t support the troops when he campaigned against the Korean disaster in 1952. These Democrats don’t know what they doing. The Republicans, at the very least, are just bad people.
So yeah, the surge worked. Good job, Bush. You listened to the lobbyists who are still pushing for that whole New American Century thing. Big whoop. And if the Republicans or any corporatist-Democrat stays/gets in power, we’re going to have more colonialism and suffering of various brown people all over the world for the benefit of big business. These Democrats better start acting fast because if 2008 isn’t the year we actually vote for change and some leadership in the White House, all is lost.
