So, here are the results of ONE HALF of this epic Press Conference.
In 37 minutes, he said 64 hyperbolic or exaggerated things about someone or something that was "the best." "He was a GREAT student, he had a TREMENDOUS career, he'll be a TREMENDOUS Secretary of Labor, I inherited a MESS, the Middle East is a MESS, the cities are a DISASTER". Everything with Trump has to be the biggest, the best, the greatest or the worst. He needs to talk in extremes. It's one of the main things we unconsciously wait for.
In 37 minutes he said 37 narcissistic phrases, ranting about how great he was. Or how hurt he was. "It was a very substantial victory. You'll see it stopping because we have OUR people in there. We're setting a record".in the time of approval for a cabinet. But the tone, Jim. The hatred." This is perhaps the most pathetic category. He needs to prop himself up, constantly. And he gets so narcissistically wounded if someone doesn't think he is the best, or says something negative about him. That is why he hits back so hard.
In 37 minutes he said 50, I said 50, derogatory remarks about someone or group of people, mostly the press. "The nation's reporters will not tell you the truth. The press is honestly out of control." "The contracts were terrible." Again, he hits back, like a little, spoiled, boy. He hits hard. He's a bully. And he'll beat you to a pulp. Most people give up. That's how he wins most of the time. He is very persistent, I'll give him that. He gets narcissistically wounded. When you get wounded like that, you hit back. Hard.
In 37 minutes he said 24 authoritarian statements. "We will not let it happen any longer." "We will have the greatest military the world has ever seen." "Our people are working day and night to keep you safe." These either get people either all "rah rah" about the country (his supporters) or scare the sh*t out of the rest of us. He is smart enough to know that when he talks with great authority many people like it. Some people like having a strong, father figure around and want someone else to make the decisions.
In 37 minutes, he said 31 lies. Flat out beauties. "My administration is running like a fine, tuned machine." "Drugs are cheaper than candy bars." "If I wasn't President, they would have left." "It takes 10, 20 years to get approved for a factory." You see, the truth doesn't matter to the Donald. Specific words don't really matter. One of the great lines of the campaign was that his supporters didn't take him literally, but took him seriously, and his detractors took him literally, but not seriously. It's so true. You can't take him literally. I honestly don't believe he always lies to screw with us; many times he doesn't really know the details or exact truth about something and he just says something that in his mind is "close enough" to make the point. Like when he said that "he had the greatest electoral college
victory since Reagan." He probably thought he did. He read it from a paper. He was really just bragging and saying, "See, I did really good, didn't I?" So he exaggerated a little bit. Now, I think he does that about half the time. But the other half of the time I think he does flat out lie, because he wants us to believe something he wants us to believe. Either way, we can't trust him.
In 37 minutes he said, what I just have to call, "weird sh*t." This is where he gets a bit looney. These are things NO ONE in their right mind would bring up. Especially if you are the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Like when he talks about "fake news." Or when he asked why the press didn't call him up and verify a story. Or when he talked about his Mexico call or Australia call. Or when he starts talking about how great he did in the Electoral College (again) or brings up his own female harassment story. Why in the world would he do that? (Because he's a narcissist).
It means he has no or very little what psychologists call "filtering mechanisms." Most of us know when to say things that are appropriate for the situation. The irony is that most politicians are masters of this, and say "the right thing" too much. In fact, most politicians filter so much, that it probably is the reason why many people initially found it refreshing that Trump doesn't filter. However, he doesn't know when to shut up.
So, with this fast, unscientific study, I believe I have proved conclusively, without a doubt, what we all have known, that our President, Donald J. Trump, is freakin' nuts. And thanks to today's press conference, we really, really know it. He gave us the roadmap. It's all right there. He's a narcissistic, hyperbolic, authoritarian, crazy, bully and liar.
Believe me. Because I'm really one of the best political writers in the country, and this article was really fantastic, don't you think, I'm going to buy the New York Times and put them out of business, this computer is really the greatest computer ever made, and what, you don't think so, well, you're just a low energy, pathetic loser, you lost the election by a landslide, why don't you just move to Mexico with the other losers over there".what, you like my hair"well, really you're a great, great person".
