"If they've come from out of state or from hot spots, we turn them away and ask them to seek an alternate route to their destinations," said Remi Bald Eagle, the intergovernmental affairs coordinator for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.

Hundreds Protest Over NY Bar Owners Arrested for Coronavirus Violations
And now, here in New York City, is proof positive of what I was saying in September, and before. We are watching the spread of another virus concurrent with the novel coronavirus itself, and raging almost as widely and severely: the virus of rebellious stupidity.
The Hill reports that Sheriff's deputies previously arrested Danny Presti, co-owner of Mac's Public House, after the bar was shut down Tuesday for operating past the 10 p.m. curfew and without a liquor license, the Washington Post reported.
The rebellious owners have persisted for 2 weeks now. The owners first announced they would flout regulations against dine-in service on Nov. 20 in defiance of cease-and-desist orders. They also declared the building an "autonomous zone," writing on the bar's Facebook page "we refuse to abide by any rules and regulations put forth by the Mayor of NYC and Governor of NY State."
How dare these boneheaded Yankee yahoos specifically oppose societally reasonable and legally valid responses to a highly contagious disease, sweeping the country and world, by this expression of some inchoate but politically opportunistic beliefs in the freedom to eat and drink wherever and whenever they want, unmasked!? I'll bet some of them even presume to think themselves patriots.
Presti also tried to get around curfew and sales restrictions by giving people drinks for free and taking donations. However, such a "bottle club" is also illegal in the state of New York.
Spokespeople for Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) have blasted the bar's owners for their actions, saying they have put "neighbors' lives at risk during a global pandemic to make a political statement."
This is more than "pandemic fatigue." The owner of Mac's, Danny Presti, and his rebelling clientele, have on their hands a portion of the blame for any deaths and hospitalizations (any cases whatsoever) that result from their specific stand against the maintenance of public health.
I am unemployed by this virus, and I don't like it any better than the next person. But people who take not liking their social lives being restricted for reasons of public health to the point of revolting against laws made to help save innocent lives pose a particular danger, with some irony.
Presti addressed the crowd Wednesday, saying "We take back Staten Island tonight. We take all the states back. This is how we take our country back."
Who are "we"? A rebellious and irresponsible crowd of drinkers and eaters, far's the story tells it. Apparently the Right-wing press was not there firsthand for this act of Right-wing rebellion against authorities from the Sheriffs' and Police Departments on up.
Take Staten Island back from whom? The County Sheriff? The Mayor and Governor? The Dutch?
