And let's face it, as if we have to ask, which party is eventually going to have to give in to end the shutdown?

C'mon, it's the Dems of course.

They can't hold out indefinitely and assure they'll lose the Congressional elections in November, 2026.

Because that will assuredly happen if they remain obstinate over the shutdown.

They give in and they'll be seen as "victorious" by the American people for restoring government services and getting Federal workers back to work.

The people aren't interested in the details of why the government is shutdown. They're only worried of how it will affect them personally.

Can't the Dems see that? They're supposed to be the party of the "regular" working person (at least they were at one time) but they sacrificed that by going after the big corporate money believing it was the only way to compete with the Repubs.

Now both parties are beholden to the corporate behemoths making them both equally corrupt.

Plus the problem is further mitigated by the virtual impossibility of a competitive 3rd party being formed in this country because the two major parties have control of the electoral process.

With big money and their lobbyists basically deciding who is to run for the Congress in most cases and unlimited funds made legal by SCOTUS, how can a candidate refusing that money hope to compete in the election.

They can't in most cases because even if a handful prevailed and won despite refusing big money that isn't going to change anything as they're not part of the leadership decision making process.

The issue of big money corrupting the electoral process is all but lost with the government shutdown yet it's the underlying factor behind this dysfunctional government and why it's all but guaranteed to continue this way.

Until the American people wake up and demand big money be made illegal in the electoral process there's little chance of things being fundamentally corrected and the peoples interests being followed.

Not while those elected are beholden to those interests that underwrite their electoral campaigns.

That's a sure fire way for things to remain the same.
