  • The fact that Sanders won open primaries and caucuses, where independents as well as Democrats could vote, and Clinton won closed primaries where only registered Democrats could vote. (In a nation where 42% of the voters are independents, you would think the super-delegates might want to look at that dynamic in particular.)
  • Her choice of center/right Tim Kaine as her running mate, thereby dissing all the Sanders' folks who were hoping for a more progressive match -- Elizabeth Warren or maybe even Bernie himself.
  • Clinton's persistent, and well-earned, low favorability ratings -- people who have watched her over the years simply don't trust her.
  • The fact that 62% of those surveyed think she should have been indicted by the FBI for being "extremely careless" with our nation's secrets in the use of her unauthorized private email server.
  • The questionable donations to the Clinton Foundation from foreign governments while Clinton was Secretary of State -- an issue that could blow up in her face at any moment.
  • So, now the deed is done. And the remaking of Hillary's image has begun.

They want you to focus on what Clinton says she will do, what she says she has done, what she promises, despite all evidence to the contrary.

They want you to ignore the stupid things she has said and done -- like immediately appointing Debbie Wasserman Schultz as her honorary campaign chair within hours of DWS resigning in disgrace over the WikiLeaks release of the DNC emails proving the party rigged the primaries against Bernie Sanders. Like refusing to release the transcripts of her golden speeches to Goldman Sachs until everyone else did. My favorite stupid thing is Hillary saying the private email server was safe in her basement because the Secret Service was always at the door guarding it.

This is a woman you want with her finger on the nuclear button?

The super-delegates who made the fateful decision are counting on several things that did not, and will not, happen.

They thought they would get a bounce in the polls when Sanders endorsed Clinton in advance of the convention. Not only did no bounce happen, but all hell broke loose.

They thought the Sandernistas would meekly follow Bernie's lead and bow at her feet. Instead they protested, loudly, immediately, everywhere, including at the convention.

The pro-Clinton folks thought, and still for some reason think, that the fear of a Trump presidency would make Clinton the natural fall-back candidate. Fear Trump, Vote Clinton. But that's not happening either. People aren't falling for that lesser-of-two-evils schtick this time around, particularly since many folks can't decide which -- Clinton or Trump -- is the lesser evil.

So, when Trump wins the election because he faced Clinton and not Sanders as the Democratic Party nominee, we have the super-delegates to thank.

    Thanks, super-delegates.

But, but, what about the woman card -- the historical significance of the first woman nominated for president? Except that she isn't. OK, add the first woman "from a major political party." Why the clarification?
