However, at the DOJ, Trump ousted the head of the antitrust division, Gail Slater, in February 2026 by telling her she had "the option to resign or be let go," according to The Guardian. This was just a month before the Live Nation settlement.

The Biden administration pursued Google, Nvidia, OpenAI and pharmacy benefit managers. The FTC, in 2022, blocked a proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons, citing rising food costs. Under the second Trump administration, the FTC has decided to focus on conservative issues like combating transgender health care.

Regulatory reform should be the solution to revitalize competition; regulatory gaps and overreach must be addressed. Antitrust policies should be enacted to stimulate a competitive environment. The FCC should protect, not pursue, the free press, or the American people will not trust their own media.

If the President really wants to combat the pull of affordability politicians like Mayor Zohran Mamdani, he should at the very least follow his legacy as a businessman and protect the American consumer, and not his big-business interests.
