"She knows that because her uncle helped him," said the Librarian. "You knew all this too when you hired him Gilchrist -- should not have surprised you when he got to you for all that money and merchandise."
Mr. Gilchrist didn't respond. He turned and looked at the preacher. The preacher looked down. The hardware store owner then turned and looked at the Librarian. She felt a chill. His expression was familiar. It was the same expression on Phillip Gilchrist's face when she fought off his drunken advances all those years ago. The same as her Pa's."
