Maybe, before the first trade deals were passed, you might stretch your kindness and allow that Clinton could not be certain that his first treaties would kill huge industries and cost the jobs of millions of Americans.
But by the time George W. Bush was president, it was obvious, and passage of further trade deals could not be excused. Trade deals are acts of treason against American industry and acts of murder, killing millions of American jobs.
There is no way to re-frame the treason of Obama's collection of trade deals he has been attempting to sneak past congress and the American public. There is no way to avoid characterizing the members of congress who voted to pass Fast Track for the current batch of depredations upon American industry and workers are traitors and job killers.
Words like treason, murder and killer must not be used lightly. We know now that trade deals kill jobs. That's a fact. The treason is my call. Article III of the US constitution defines treason:
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
Wikipedia describes high treason in the UK:
"Under the law of the United Kingdom, high treasonis the crime of disloyalty to the Crown. Offences constituting high treason include plotting the murder of the sovereign; committing adultery with the sovereign's consort, with the sovereign's eldest unmarried daughter, or with the wife of the heir to the throne; levying war against the sovereign and adhering to the sovereign's enemies, giving them aid or comfort; and attempting to undermine the lawfully established line of succession. Several other crimes have historically been categorised as high treason, including counterfeiting money and being a Catholic priest."
Whle the older British definition focuses on protection of top-down, dynastic power, Both definitions define treason as giving aid or comfort to enemies. For my characterizing of the supporters of trade pacts and the expediting Fast Track legislation, that would mean that the beneficiaries of these deals would be the enemy. Enough information about the secretive TPP and it's Atlantic cousin has come out to make it clear that these deals betray the interests of American workers and industries while serving transnational corporations and a few corporations-- big Pharma, Big AG, major holders of copyrights, Monsanto and other GMO companies.
The people who are attempting to inflict these deals on the US, in my opinion, meet the criteria for treason-- aiding and abetting the enemy. And if it's not clear, let me spell it out. The big corporations that would go so far in their predatory, extractive efforts cannot be considered friends or allies of the USA. They should be stripped of all the corporate welfare they receive.
The legislators should be charged with treason. Obama should be charged with treason. Add it to the long list of charges which should be prosecuted against Obama. This won't happen. But at the least, every single legislator who voted for fast track and or the TPP should be primaried.

These Democrats should be the low hanging fruit in terms of liberals and progressives taking action. Every single one should be primaried out of office for support the enemies of the American people. And given the capacity for these trade deals to overcome US laws and sovereignty, we can add enemies of Democracy. They are corporatists who have sold out. It's that simple. If you vote for one you are part of the problem. As one of the higher profile Democratic leaders, Debbie Wasserman Shultz should be, in particular, targeted.
Enemies, murderers, traitors. Repeat the words. Embrace them. Because that's who we're dealing with. Corpowhores who have sold out. We need to get rid of them. Period.
