Terrorist Attacks in Radioland

As the republican company spokespeople begin to hyperventilate over the stiffening will of the people to throw out the party of Big Pharma, Big Oil and Big Contracting ($300 billion in Iraq, plus another $4 billion a day), they are contradicting themselves left and right.

Rush Limbaugh is proving my observation: when democratic politicians hold Limbaugh accountable for the lies he spreads, he talks about nothing but himself. Since Limbaugh was put on the defensive over his hateful remarks about Michael J. Fox, he has barely touched on any other subject for the past week.

Last week, Limbaugh cruelly derided Fox for having Parkinson's disease after he noticed the former actor was bringing the message of hope into other people's lives. Limbaugh wasted no time in mocking Fox, attacking his reputation by calling him a fake, and seeing to it that Fox would go home a disgrace to himself and his family.

These are the people that we democrats must bite our lips and contend with every day. These are the people who push our patience and our tolerance to the breaking point, who raise doubt when they claim our faith and our values.

Rush is hoping that nobody will ever hire Michael J. Fox again. He is hoping that Fox will never again make the mistake of trying to do something helpful for society. He is hoping that Fox will crawl into a hole and stop asking for help. These are the dictators who would be, if only...

Ironically, Rush turned around after he had finished lynching Michael J. Fox and cried about the way that the "drive by media" had bruised his ratings, which translate into money for Rush, which is all this greedy, lustful, envious, jealous, slothful snake cares about.

Responding to widespread outrage over his extreme rendition of Fox, Limbaugh said, "This is who the drive-by media is. They lie, they make things up, they smear they destroy, they avoid the substance of issues." But any time a hypocrite points a finger, three fingers point back at him or her. Rush proves this formula true every time.

For a long time Rush viciously attacked drug users, then we found out that he's an addict. Rush sometimes preaches family values that even he fails with several divorces in his history. Rush is the embodiment of a man who has welcomed the devil into his heart with arms wide open.

He hisses when he talks, like the tobacco that sizzles as it burns on his fat cigar. His very being soaks up sin like a sponge, and yet he keeps pointing the finger at democrats and the free press, two beacons of liberty that merit no personal attack, no slander.

Nobody attacks anything without a vested interest. For Rush, his vested interest is ratings. He hates the free press because they give him competition. There is no substance to his claims that they lie, but the devil will say anything to tempt a man into his designs.

Meanwhile, Sean Hannity took direct aim at James Webb for books that he published which the republicans are claiming contained P-13 rated material. Who knows why republicans were browsing in this section of the bookstore, but that's beside the point. I didn't catch all of his remarks, but clearly Hannity was using Webb's private life and the topic of sexuality in a desperate attempt to win over voters.

But I'm going to show you that Hannity bears false witness just as often as Limbaugh. Hannity may speak fast enough to sell most voters on the republican car--which is really a lemon--but he can't fool me. Bless her heart, a young gay college student called the Hannity radio show on Wednesday and confessed her confusion about which way to vote. The young woman felt conservative about Bush's foreign policy and tax cuts (which she doesn't understand don't apply to her) and all the other hoopla that republicans PROFESS to stand for.

Hannity, never one to shy away from playing the comforter with a 21-year-old woman, said, "I'm fairly libertarian about [the sexual stuff in politics]. I don't think [most republicans] really care about what you're doing in your own private life." Are you kidding me? Is this from the same two-timing, double-faced, gut and spend-again republican who is now attacking James Webb for WRITING about sexual matter?

Hannity thinks that he can get away with holding a double standard and fooling his audience, whom he doesn't think has a memory or any rational objectivity. But it's not going to happen so long as I am listening.

Finally, taking full advantage of their liberty to say anything ungrounded in actual fact, talk show hosts are creating the false illusion that a wave of red rebellion is sweeping the country. Like Saddam Hussein, they try to re-write the opinion of the people. Currently 75 percent of Americans want to drown this Congress in the nearest creek, but these spokespeople are trying to rewrite that opinion to a 98% approval for President Bush. It's a lie, and the conservatives I know see through it. There's no change in the widespread conclusion that this corrupt and power-hungry Congress needs to go.
