Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner

How else to put it; it's absolute insanity for the US to provoke a war with Russia.

Yet this morning here was the US House of Representatives debating and passing a resolution, H.Res 758 by a vote of 411 to 10 which former Congressman Dennis Kucinich describes as a "Green Light" to war with Russia. [1]

The resolution is a compilation of false accusations blaming Russia and Vladimir Putin for "aggression" that has no basis in fact, but tantamount to a justification for war.

This drivel of a resolution seems right out of the neo-con playbook with all their regime change fantasies and lust for war.

These fools need to read Pepe Escobar article [2] where he outlines what he calls "the basics" of Russia's absolutely lethal nuclear arsenal and its capability which should deter any "rational" minds from contemplating, never mind provoking, a war with Russia-though one would have to describe neo-con thinking as just plain irrational .

In an earlier article [3] , Escobar in his footnotes refers to Vladir Kozin of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies who in a lengthy position paper titled, "THE USA AND NATO HAVE HAMMERED OUT THE COLD WAR 2.0 WITH RUSSIA", gives an accurate description of events since the cold war ended in 1990 and what has transpired since to bring on this new cold war of 2014.

As to the Pentagon and their neo-con fellow travelers they've hated the idea of MAD, mutually assured destruction, the concept that initiating a nuclear war was inconceivable as a retaliatory nuclear strike would assuredly bring ones own annihilation.

So the boys at the war department way back in 2000 devised what they call "Full Spectrum Dominance" [4] whereby you "control all dimensions of the battle space, air, surface, sub-surface, electro-magnetic spectrum and information space" and "opposition is wholly constrained".

To put it simply, develop a first strike nuclear capability along with an ABM system capable of preventing a retaliatory nuclear strike essentially making MAD, null and void.

So there it is, but I want to digress somewhat and insert other some matters happening now that are also relevant and interconnected.

You must have noticed lately gasoline at the pump has come down drastically the last few weeks. Why? Well Saudi Arabia has glutted the oil market drastically reducing the price for crude oil to well under $100 per barrel to somewhere in the $60 range.

The intent of the glut was an agreement between Secretary of State and the Saudi's to punish Russia and Iran economically-the two major oil producers after Saudi Arabia-and make them more compliant to US dictate-Iran to force them to sign a nuclear agreement with the P1-plus 5 to severely curtail their enrichment of uranium and Russia by hitting its oil industry-apparently 60% of its income is from oil production-cause a severe economic turndown in the country, harm Putin politically with the intent to bring his eventual downfall-this of course along with provoking him to invade Ukraine and create the pretext for a war with NATO and the US.

Also the Saudi's want to bring the downfall of Bashar Assad in Syria-also the expressed intention of the US though temporarily on hold-a key ally with both Russia and Iran and get a more pliable government in Damascus.

Assad's removal is complicated for the present what with the US bombing the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq and now Iran independently sending its planes to bomb ISIS in Iraq. What the end game for Obama's "don't do stupid stuff" foreign policy is hard to fathom-especially since ISIS is a creation of the US making beginning with Dubya's invasion of Iraq in 2003, the disbanding of the 400,000 Iraqi army instantly making them all unemployed and creating the Sunni insurgency and now 11 years later, many of those former Iraqi army officers have become military leaders in ISIS.
