Be proud to follow in your President's footsteps. Footsteps which loudly proclaimed to our entire nation during another time of war (i.e., Vietnam) that campaigning is far more critical to our democracy than finishing your military service!
However, please be duly warned that if you find yourself unable to return and finish your military obligations after the November elections (no matter what the reason, if any), you just may end up serving as President of the United States someday. In the event that happens - look on the bright side - at least you will never have to worry about being recalled ever again! Better still, you may end up making more money than you ever dreamed possible - even if you had failed at everything else you had previously attempted. All you need to do is check your brain, heart and ethics at the White House door and be willing to lie like a rug in the Oval Office.
If the idea of becoming President seems a wee bit too daunting, consider the Vice Presidency. All this apparently entails is developing a "potty-mouth", hiding, holding secret meetings, hiding some more, finding a complacent lawyer to shoot while drunk and, of course, hiding again. Last, but certainly not least, being able to successfully promote and start a war (BUT NOT FINISH IT!) will guarantee you even greater profits than the President enjoys!
Being a true Patriot, according to the Bush Administration, is to follow them unquestioningly. Do as they do and never ever question what it is they do and/or why they do it. With that in mind, remember - your boots were made for walking - so start walking like your Commander-in-Chief did.
