It takes an uncorrupted congress to make the impeachment process effective in protecting our country from such unwise voter approval, voter gullibility or candidate or office holder criminality.
The corrupt GOP continues to play its game of deflection and denial even today! On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, Jerry Nadler, one of the House Managers of Trump's Senate impeachment "trial," displayed the fortitude to call them out on it today in the senate. Chief Justice Roberts admonished Nadler for his remarks although he diplomatically chose to admonish both "sides." But the admonishment was clearly aimed at Nadler. Question: Nadler was admonished for what? Calling a rigged "trial" rigged? For exposing a sham as a sham? For telling the truth? When is it okay to admonish ANYONE for telling the truth like Nadler was doing? Nadler just repeated and criticized the GOP plan to cover for trump which was already clearly admitted to and laid out by both Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham.
Meanwhile trump continues his barrage of insults and baseless accusations against the Democrats. On that same day, Trump told reporters that the impeachment trial is a "con job, And he called key Democrats "major sleazebags," specifically calling Nadler a "sleazebag." Where's Roberts' admonishment of Trump?
It was Trump, his Whitehouse lawyer Pat Cipollone and the rest of trump's cartoon council that should've been admonished for lying and making unfounded legal assertions in defense of their criminal client. Roberts needs to step up and DEMAND Trump, himself, and his council stop making legally baseless claims like - 1) Trump has absolute immunity, 2) there's no evidence to support impeachment, 3) executive privilege applies to defying congressional oversight, covering up crimes or unethical or impeachable behavior and 4) Trump can use executive privilege as a means to withhold witnesses and documentation of his crimes. ALL these assertions are false and if they were made in a criminal proceeding the judge would throw out these groundless assertions and admonish the lawyers making them. These are just four of the many absurd and legally baseless claims being made by Trump and his council.
Another false assertion Trump's council and GOP Senate coharts keep repeated is that the house didn't call all the necessary witnesses. They ignore the fact that trump ILLEGALLY ordered the witnesses to break the law and defy the congressional subpoenas. which is called "obstruction of justice or congress." Of the MANY witnesses who defied trump rather than the law - they each testified to trump's guilt.
As for new documents and witnesses they aren't really needed for conviction in the Senate. Trump's guilt is already clearly proven. The ONLY reason the House Mangers are even requesting more evidence be entered into the Senate trial record and more witnesses to testify is because MORE evidence keeps coming to light, more witnesses are volunteering to testify and the senate GOP are ignoring and denying the facts that already prove trump's guilt. So if Roberts is to admonish anyone its Trump's council for repeatedly making legally unjustifiable claims in Trump's defense.
