No one is more devastated than I with Bernie's endorsement of filthy warmonger #CrookedHillary. The enormous amount of effort I've put into the campaign makes it a huge bitter pill to swallow.
In an effort to figure out what I should do now that the campaign is over, I was going through the tons of data and campaign material I've accumulated.
In reading the Chicago BOE statement explaining why they would not be able to rectify the problems with their election process soon enough to save the general election blah blah blah, I thought of something we can do to keep #CrookedHillary and co. from stealing it.
What if we put all our effort into demanding a fair election? What if we swarmed the campaign offices and elections officials and all the seated representatives and refuse to allow ANY election or campaign business to move forward until we are guaranteed the Presidential election process will be a legitimate one?
We could demand paper ballots (or insist they only use machines that leave a verifiable paper trail) and transparent public oversight of both the vote and the count. Would they dare call a fair election movement "radical" or a "fringe fantasy"? I don't think so.
How could ANY elected OR appointed official oppose a demand for democracy in America? How could they defend a position to keep the election rigged? They couldn't. Not without severe consequence anyway. How could the DNC or the BOE, or the RNC, for that matter say "yeah we know it's rigged but we just don't have any interest in fixing it before the next President is elected" to the entire electorate? They couldn't. Not publicly. Not without losing "face".

l it would really take to get this done is persistence and numbers. The very same way Bernie has gotten us this far. With enough people (even a fraction of the number of voters for Bernie) we could make sure the people choose the next President rather than the crooked Establishment thieves. Every person, party, and rights organization could unite and/or support a demand for fair election process. It can be done. If we want it bad enough.
Before we throw in the towel, let's brainstorm this option and work our butts off to spread this very real possibility. Let's make it the number one priority. Let's make the #BernieorBust and the #BernieorJill campaign a #FairElectionOrElse campaign. Even invite the Trump camp. They have as much to lose as we do with Hillary on the ticket.
Sure it's a Hail Mary. But any coach will tell you this is precisely the situation the play was created for. With seconds left in the 4th quarter you have one shot that determines the game. You never debate on whether or not to take that shot. Even if your receiver is 5th string you take it because you've got nothing to lose. You take it because there is NO RISK in doing so and more than a few times the payoff is a win. The Hail Mary in the photo got the Raiders to the playoffs! Quite a feat if you consider how horrible the Raiders have done for more than a decade prior.
Our democracy is certainly worth a Hail Mary. And what have we got to lose at this point in the game?
