Were the Gulf Tanker Strikes a Saudi-Run Operation?

So navigating off the Reuters report below, and others like it in the mainstream media today, there are some obvious takeaways and some big questions.

Right now, the U.S. and the Saudis are pointing fingers at the Iranians. Perhaps but it begs the question, why? Tensions in the region, thanks to the highly inflammatory rhetoric coming out of the Trump administration, are already dangerously high.

National Security Adviser and longtime proponent of war with Iran John Bolton is predictably pushing Donald Trump to, for lack of a better phrase, make war on Iran.

The Saudis, who view Iran as a bitter regional rival, are pushing for the same thing. They would love for the U.S. to use its military against its enemy.

Donald Trump has been in the middle up until this point. He profits personally from his business dealings with the Saudis, particularly on real estate transactions, so he wants to maintain that warm and profitable relationship. Perhaps in keeping with that premise, Trump invited Bolton to join the team as a warning signal to the Iranians?

Oddly, Trump seems somewhat reluctant to engage Iran militarily. He seems to think he can create the conditions and set the stage for war with Iran and control the factors that might lead to war without going to war. It is a dangerous game that could lead to catastrophic consequences.

The facts as reported below would seem to indicate fairly sophisticated military capabilities, ones normally associated with a nation-state. Based on the economic and military realities of the region, the three most likely suspects are Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.

Israel gets thrown in only because they do have the military technology, they are in the region, and they do share the Saudis' fear and contempt of Iran. However, striking Japanese or Norwegian shipping vessels is not the type of thing the Israelis are likely to engage in.

Iran too has the necessary military technology but stands to gain little by damaging or destroying Japanese or Norwegian ships. There is no economic or military logic to support that. To the contrary, with U.S. sanctions constraining the Iranian economy, it would be in Iran's interest to maintain good relations with Japan, Norway, and any other country willing to maintain trade.

Saudi Arabia does, however, seem to see its strategy of a U.S. war on Iran furthered by these events. Would the Saudis coordinate these strikes? It bears noting that none of their assets were damaged. Of the most likely suspects, the Saudis to seem to have the most to gain.

Right now the U.S. and the Saudis are pointing fingers at the Iranians and the Iranians are pointing fingers at the U.S. and the Saudis. The odds are that the Iranian argument may be stronger.

"Suspects are Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Israel."

I don't know why the US should be eliminated as a suspect. With Japan's PM visiting Iran, the attack may have been a message to Japan not to buy Iranian oil. It could have also been a rogue CIA operation, if not directly then with Israel or Saudis. Most likely there are enough eyes and ears on that part of the world that the US and Israeli spies know what happened. I would like to hear what the Russians know.

"Israel ---Japanese or Norwegian shipping vessels is not the type of thing the Israelis are likely to engage in."

I have no doubt that the Israelis have no qualms about attacking "there own grandmother" for the cause. Israel wants to provoke a US war with Iran, and are willing to fight until the last drop of American blood.

Saudi Arabia does not have skill to even kill a journalist without botching it. If they did it, then the US, Israel and Russia know it.

Iran has absolutely no motive for this attack. They are not a terrorist nation, no matter how many times the US State Department and Israel says it. Why would they attack a Japanese ship when they are trying to sell oil to Japan, and Japan's PM is visiting the country?

David Pear - Absolutely spot on as ever. Yesterday I received another Facebook ban for saying as much after four 30 day bans in 12 months for criticising Israel. Fortunately the latest is only until Tuesday. No reason was given.

Farcebook never even gives me notice I have been banned. Just every single time I post something about Julian Assange, Palestine or Venezuela my posts get "lost" in cyberspace.

Why is no one writing about censorship at facebook? Maybe you could investigate that. Censoring the truth is grounds for a court case.

Lila, I am so a-technical I would not know how to begin.

I've always just assumed anything I post would be tampered with in some way.

My pattern is to just keep pumping out articles from writers who tell the truth and hope a few get out to people who can use the information.

Google+ just dumped all of us prols so I've been trying to share to Facebook and Twitter.

In 2016 I "friended" anyone who was for Bernie (before the primary) and for the Green Party after Bernie betrayed us and joined the DNC. I got the limit of 5000 "friends" but most of them have succumbed to the "blue no matter who" mentality so my contacting people on Facebook is a huge waste of time, just blocking people for being too ignorant to engage.

I know I am a disappointment to you honest folks but I have pretty much dropped out of social media.

Even trying to engage real people is so frustrating because corporate media here in the Netherlands is almost as bad as in the USA and people think Russia is a big threat and they believe every lie about Iran and Venezuela too.

I thought by being of active service to people would get them to trust me enough to listen a little but even my Black pals will not listen to one word of criticism against President Obama either.

People are nice to me and seem grateful for what I do but they only tolerate my ideas and don't really listen.

I know that youtube has censored all videos that either speak the truth or even question the lies. Two alternatives that do not censor are veoh and archive.org. You can find information on all false flags on those. I have never done facebook, so I have no idea what alternatives are out there, but assume they exist. I never understood why anyone would participate in a website that exists solely to spy on people.

How to Identify a False Flag Operation

1 - All evidence, photos, videos, security camera videos are immediately confiscated and classified as top secret.

2 - The entire investigation, if there is one, occurs under total secrecy

3 - All evidence is immediately destroyed, buried, and disposed of, and buildings demolished,

3- A perpetrator of the attack is immediately identified, and it is usually announced that he was killed by police, whether that person can be proven to have been present or not.

4- Regular Americans are called upon to contribute money, totaling hundreds of millions of dollars, to families of the purported victims.

5 - Testimony of actual witnesses is immediately destroyed and removed from television and internet archives. Actual witnesses are hounded by government agents, threatened, and told never to discuss what they have seen. Any person questioning the dodgy evidence or lack thereof is labeled a "tin foil hat-conspiracy theorist" idiot.

6 - Websites that offer alternative explanations for the event and present evidence are banned by google, facebook, and youtube.

7 - No bodies of victims are ever seen by anyone.

This is America in the 21st century.
