This past oppressively hot August weekend here in Texas I worked a little outdoors and then opened a nice cold Pearl beer and sat down to rest awhile in front of the television - and there he was: Glenn Beck, all illustrative and emotive. With Lincoln and Martin Luther King at his back, it was a very evocative tableau - unfortunately not the evocative tableau that Glenn was shooting for. It reminded me of film footage of The 1936 Nazi Nuremberg rally. I guess it's kind of odd that the brain of a Texan carpenter, slightly awash in Pearl beer, would dredge up possibly the most heinous gathering of modern times from simply recognizing Glenn Beck surrounded by monumental architecture and adoring crowds of almost racial homogeneity. He asked for it.
Beck is very fond of metaphor and simile, and so am I. He also absolutely thrives on comparisons and aspersions, as do I. If my memory serves me correctly, at some point in the past he used the words Obama and Hitler, if not in the same sentence, in the same diatribe. So here goes:
Glenn Beck is born of Germanic origins.
Obama is a bi-racial Kenyan Muslim.
Glenn Beck was raised Roman Catholic - as was the young Adolf.
Obama, I think, is Baptist.(?)
Glenn Beck has nostalgically rented and worn a Nazi-looking uniform from what may be a fascist haberdashery (on the cover of his book 'Arguing With Idiots') -it sure looks Nazi or Peron-ish to me.
Obama has never worn a Nazi-like uniform.
I read somewhere that Mr. Beck read and admired Friedrich Nietzsche - What a coincidence; so did Hitler.
Obama has probably read his work, but I couldn't find anywhere this being instrumental in his formative years.
Glenn Beck doesn't have a complete secondary education - neither did Adolf Hitler.
I'm almost certain that Barack does - but where was he born? Just kidding.
Glenn Beck has admitted to being a former drug addict - Hitler was a speed freak.
Barack may have smoked a little weed, but hey, he still became President, and he was never fired from Morning Zoo Radio for being an a**h**e while under the influence.
Glenn Beck made reference to Jews being the killers of Christ - Hitler used this kind of rhetoric to validate "The Final Solution."
As far as I know Barack doesn't talk like that.
I could go on, but I'm getting nervous and agitated. Hitler was ultimately proven to be evil and a fool. Our President is neither evil or a fool, but..
"Every word dropped by Hitler seemed like an inspired word from on high. Man's - or at least the German's - critical faculty is swept away at such moments, and every lie pronounced is accepted as high truth itself".
