A catastrophe may be about to happen in Syria that could bring a wider war.

As we know the world's two nuclear super powers, the US and Russia are on opposite sides in the war in Syria though the two militaries have a de-confliction agreement in place to avoid direct conflict between them in Syria. That agreement could be in serious jeopardy in the coming days.

For days now the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) backed by Russia has been targeting al Qaeda, Islamic State terrorists with artillery and air attacks in Idlib, Syria. They may be in the final stages before launching a ground assault to liberate the Syrian peoples long held hostage by these jihadist terrorists.

The US, having not so clandestinely been arming and training these mercenary, jihadist terrorists since the conflict began in Syria in 2011, doesn't want this last terrorist haven in Idlib to fall. So it's been prattling on using the ruse of a possible chemical attack in Idlib, blame it on the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad to justify a retaliatory missile attack on Syrian government installations.

The Syrian government has every right to eliminate this terrorist scourge in Idlib. It is also in the direct national interest of Syrian government allies Iran and Russia. Both countries view Syria as the front line in the fight against these US backed jihadist terrorists.

But the US, its lap dog British and French allies along with its complicit enabling corporate MSM have so demonized Russia and Iran with wrongful allegations-accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of authorizing a chemical weapons attack in Salisbury, England, interfering in the US election of Donald Trump and accusing Iran of abrogating the 2015 nuclear agreement, all of which are false allegations-seem intent on initiating a war against them in Syria. This has long been the aim of US neo-cons. Now they're ensconced in the White House with John Bolton in Trump's ear as national security advisor and Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State.

For weeks Russia has been providing evidence and warning of terrorists in Idlib being supplied with chemical weapons which they intend to stage an attack, then blame it on the Assad government. At the same time the US, Britain, France now Germany all say if there is a chemical attack in Idlib they'll initiate a missile attack against Assad.

As in all previous instances no substantiated evidence will be presented except maybe some phony staged managed scenes by the notorious "White Helmets" aiding actors portraying Syrian people who were presumably attacked. No time for OPCW weapons inspectors to determine who is really responsible for such an attack or even whether a chemical attack happened at all. No, all that's needed are allegations. Then send in the missiles.

If such a scenario were to occur Russian and Iranian military personnel could be killed in these missile attacks presumably launched by US ships off the coast of Syria in the Mediterranean. Then what will Russia do? It would have satellite images from where the missiles were launched. If they were from these US ships Russia could target them in retaliation. Then what? A game of chicken? See who backs down first?

In my article [1] one week ago it ended with, "This is precarious as it gets". That premise has only heightened these past few days.
