Jessie: I think a lot of parents, when they have a
child who has been bullied and they try to get the school to help, a lot of
times the school doesn't know what to do, or throws up their hands and says,
"It's not our problem," and I think parents need to come in and say, "It is
your schools problem, because if it's not my child it's a different child, and
this is a community issue, and we need to treat it as such." I think parents can take it to superintendent
levels. These are very serious issues
that I think people are going to be paying more attention to, so people can
really demand that more compassionate community is created, that it is not just
about figuring out who a perpetrator is and punishing them, but about how are
we going to support a person who has been hurt in the community? How can we create healing for the person who
has been abused? How can we created
healing for everybody who sees that abuse, so that a new value is being
promoted in a given school community?
Rob: OK.
Thank you so much.
Jessie: Thank you.
