JB: I wouldn't be surprised to read some day that you've pulled that one off, too!
I brought up AudioFile partly because of the wonderful quote that deems you the Meryl Streep of audiobook narrating. What high praise! What's it like to be compared with the Best of the Best?
BR: How I would adore meeting that woman! To be spoken of in the same breath is phenomenal. She is, to me, the consummate performer whose very presence elicits a joy and expectation I have not found in any other actor. If I did get that golden opportunity, I would probably dissolve into a small, steaming mass of Jewish angst...oy!
JB: I would love to be a fly on the wall if and when that historic get-together takes place! What would you like to touch on before we wrap this up, Barbara?
BR: An actor's life is fraught with highs and lows, the unexpected, massive disappointment, rejection, and life changing moments of wonder. Just being able to recognize how one is doing and what to do next, given the chance, is a constant, stress making enterprise. But this is what I know. It is what makes me tick. And, one way or another, I am going to stick with it and hope to be able to continue to provide pleasure either on screen, stage, or in a pair of earbuds near you.
JB: I have few doubts about your longevity and versatility. Thank you so much for chatting with me. I learned so much. It was a pleasure and a privilege.
BR: You're right, Joan...this was FUN!
Thank you.
