Our country has a habit of reacting to events instead of preventing them. Preventing them actually means listening to the intelligence warnings in which President Bush failed at doing. It means that President Bush should have listened to experts like Richard Clarke who is a counter-terrorism expert that served under several administrations. He shouted at the Bush administration to pay attention to al Qaeda and they failed. In fact I did write of a Sixty Minute interview which took place between Richard Clarke and Leslie Stahl in which Clarke stated, “He ignored it. He ignored terrorism for months, when maybe we could have done something to stop 9/11. Maybe. We'll never know." He was referring to President Bush.
As it relates to the war in Iraq, we must start changing the way this government operates. Right now as a result of this war we have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis and displaced millions more. Are we in fact setting ourselves up for the next terrorist attack? We have just successfully campaigned on behalf of terrorists groups like al Qaeda.
