Here is that double standard of which I often speak about. Like I say in "Born In The Wrong Country,-- "There has always been a double standard in this country, one for Whites and another for Blacks. Mind you, the higher standard was set for Blacks, making it harder for us to achieve the same mark as the Whites. Our government gave other Whites from other countries far more opportunities than were given to Black people and many of us were born and raised here. Unfortunately, when some people like Andrew Breitbart see that obstacles hurled against the African-American-People of Color aren't effective, they become more enraged.
You see job security comes with a price; when a Black woman like Shirley Sherrod can be forced to resign because of what a racist person does, something is very wrong with how our system works. Unfortunately, slave mentality is still at work with certain White people as it is with Black people. When one doesn't do their homework and investigate something, then they are acting negligently; in a racial situation this negligence if done on purpose is called racism. Let it be known that people like that don't change; they are bent on doing harm, and hate that the African-American People of Color have elevated themselves to higher jobs through-out our country. This kind of behavior is what I call slave mentality of Whites, and Blacks who don't believe this haven't lost their slave mentality either; they should know better, especially the NAACP.
"Shirley Sherrod said that the one person she would like to get
back at would be Andrew Breitbart, who posted the three minute NAACP clip, which resulted in the loss of
her job." http://www.examiner.com/x-53781-US-Headlines-Examiner~y2010m7d22-Shirley-Sherrod-said-would-like-to-get-back-at-Andrew-Breitbart-Sherrod-speaks-to-Obama
Though some people would probably say that wouldn't be the Christian thing to do, I believe that sometimes one has to help oneself by putting an end to any kind of blasphemy in order to keep such blasphemy from being repeated. Christians need to be empowered; this is what real Christian empowerment is all about, striking down racism wherever it pops up.
What transpired with Shirley Sherrod should never have happened and it didn't just happen. Someone, either Andrew Breitbart, or a number of people caused this huge infraction to occur, and they knew exactly what they were doing. The Obama administration cannot allow something like this to ever happen again. Wanting to believe the good of all is wonderful, but this belief can make for a disaster in politics. Perhaps some day people will realize that spreading the truth is easier than they think; it's the only way of killing a lie and racism.
