And Abroad
A pastor being prosecuted for
calling Muslims 'heathen' and 'Satanic' in a sermon today told the court that
the charge against him is 'ridiculous'.
Pastor James McConnell, 78, from Newtownabbey, County Antrim, made the
controversial comments from the pulpit while his teachings were being streamed
online.
The priest was later charged for improper use of electronic equipment and using
it to broadcast a grossly offensive message, and he stood trial at Belfast
Magistrates Court today.
Pastor James David Manning, in other words, should count himself lucky he doesn't live in Great Britain: it takes hate speech very, very seriously and has recently considered banning Donald Trump from entering the country. To Brits, Manning is more like Sweeney Todd than a righteous Christian pastor.
The War On Christmas As A Convoluted Means of Hate
The War on Christmas has been stupid from the beginning, and the lengths to which the Right's "warriors" are battling it has become boring with the exception of the occasional outrageous statement. For instance, Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress opines that the War on Christmas is part of a larger Satanic plot. On The O'Reilly Factor:
And it's not just a War on Christmas that's brewing, it
is "part of a larger war on Christianity" all over the world ...O'Reilly asked,
"Who do you think is behind the movement to diminish Christianity?"
Jeffress answered, "The kingdom of darkness, of Satan."
That means, "Happy Holidays" is satanically inspired!
The Season Of Hating keeps rolling on through such people as Jeffress, Manning and McConnell, with no let up in sight.
