It is disaster capitalism write large, Naomi Klein wrote about this in her book "The Shock Doctrine" and has a new piece out at the Guardian (that is also here at OEN) entitled "Why US fracking companies are licking their lips over Ukraine" describing how the wave of fracking is about to reach a crescendo with the patriotic rallying cry of defeating Putin as the bogus corporate mantra. The moneyed special interests are swarming all over every aspect of the Ukraine situation looking to cash in, Bloomberg.com's recent article "Ukranian Crisis Not Wasted by Washington Lobbyists" is also a must read.
In the now fully weaponized version of looter capitalism that is as American as apple pie it is all about the spreading of "democracy" at the point of a gun and where such things as fair trade have been dispatched for lying, cheating, using the NSA for industrial espionage to gain competitive advantage and at a darker level, murder, rape, torture, resource theft and general avarice. This is epitomized by the just announced visit of Vice President Joe Biden to Ukraine in May after the wet work has been done - God forbid that the Democratic party sees all of those big agribusiness dollars sitting on the sidelines or even worse redirected to the other criminal political syndicate the Republican party come the November elections.
Perhaps there would be a change in attitude if any of the silk-suited cowards and high-rolling pirates that are ensconced in their corporate boardrooms would actually grab a rifle and man the front lines of the latest imperial conquest for that orgasmic pop that is the bottom line on the quarterly balance sheet. Or for that matter the neocons and their hordes of laptop warriors in the media, think tanks and the bureaucracy. It will never happen though as they own the entire system now and will grind our bones to make their bread and bomb, imprison, incinerate and murder any opposition in those foreign lands that stand in the way of their profits. If there is such a place as Hell may they one day rot there but the game will always stay rigged in their favor as long as the current system goes unchallenged.
