But then if they want to attack this person, now they have all this personal, sometimes identifying information. They're going to find out who this person is. They're going to post, you know, here's their Facebook profile, they live in North Carolina, and they have two kids and a dog. You know that is, that is more *chuckles* I think what sociopaths will do. Is initially be kind of nice, but there's, there's no need to tell strangers online personally identifying details about yourself.
But the other thing is, who cares if somebody online now knows where you live. A lot of people think, this means now that they're, somebody's going to come and stalk me, or somebody's going to come and kill me. And I just don't see that happening. Sociopaths are not going to book a flight to wherever you live in North Carolina, and then show up at your house and kill you. That's it just seem, it's definitely not their MO.
Rob Kall: Okay. What about trolls?
M.E. Thomas: Hm. Trolls. So trolls are interesting, I actually dated somebody for a while that said that, he considered himself a professional troll. And he would troll people in a way that was personally beneficial. So he would troll people to, for instance, hate a particular corporation. And he had short sold the stock for that corporation. So when the stock went down he made money, from having trolled the corporation.
So there, there are those that are professional trolls, and that kind of, I mean I think that's really clever to do something like that. And in some ways, I don't know if admirable, but really impressive that, if you're able to carry off trolling to that sort of extent.
So I think the motivations for trolls vary widely though. It's somebody like that, who's doing it for a purely monetary gain type reason. And probably enjoys the fact that he's getting people to get all up in arms about something.
And then there are other trolls who, so a lot of trolls I think are just trying to provoke a reaction in other people. I think that's kind of the definition of a troll, is to just, you don't really care about the issue, you only want to make other people upset. You only want to provoke other people. And this could be sociopathic, but its kind of seems childish, it largely seems like there's another internet term apart from troll, butthurt. *chuckles* Have you ever heard that term?
Rob Kall: No, what is the term? Butthurt?
