"Where Are The Jobs?"

I direct this rhetorical question at John Boehner because his dumb, drunk ass used to ask it ad nauseum during the first two years of Obama's presidency as if the President could wave his magic jobs wand and resolve unemployment overnight. The boat anchor party ran on the "job creation" platform in the 2010 midterm elections but we've yet to see any "job creation" legislation come out of the House since they took control of it. Oddly enough, you don't hear him ask the question anymore. The boat anchor party can't say a WORD about jobs.

If they had any desire to do something useful for the country, they'd jump on the infrastructure bandwagon. I think we can all agree that infrastructure desperately needs to be built, rebuilt or improved. We need safe roads, bridges, schools, libraries, trains, etc. Much of our country's infrastructure is falling apart while the boat anchors stand idly by.

To really understand the boat anchor party's vision for America, one need only look at the latest (in addition to last year's "Path To Prosperity") Paul Ryan budget -- "The Road To Ruin". It's sole purpose seems to be that of funneling every bit of money and profit, regardless of anything or anyone else, to the top income bracket to the tune of over 3 trillion dollars. This farce of a budget also guts Medicare and cuts other crucial programs like food stamps, unemployment, veteran's benefits and Medicaid to name a few. This is ACTUAL class warfare, something they like to accuse the President and Democrats of constantly.

In addition, the new Paul Ryan budget takes twenty eight years to balance the budget, about eighteen years longer than the anti-Paul Ryan budget released by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which does it in ten. Who are the fiscally responsible ones again?

The boat anchor party is functioning much as any good boat anchor would. We could soar to the highest heights if only we could unshackle ourselves from them.  If not for their antics, we could succeed in almost every way imaginable. Instead of working toward full employment, having a healthy, happy and confident population that no longer has to worry about its medical needs and national accomplishments, they're worried about whether one of their corporate campaign donors gets a fat bonus check. How does anyone think that's more important than the greater good? In some cases they're afraid of being left behind, sitting on the sideline because they lack the vision or knowledge to move ahead as pioneers and innovators. So they tie themselves, their fears and their misinformation around the ankles of this country and do what they do best -- keep us from moving forward. Misery loves company. Either way, their actions are unpatriotic and selfish.

Now I understand that many of you have certain issues with President Obama as do I. That being said, I think we owe it to ourselves to reflect for a moment on what it would mean if he loses re-election to one of the boat anchor candidates. The chance of passing any type of campaign finance or lobbyist reform, infrastructure or clean energy initiatives, universal health care or anything resembling a Progressive agenda is ZERO under a boat anchor president.

If, however, we re-elect Obama AND take back the House and gain a 60+ vote RELIABLY DEMOCRAT Senate majority, we stand a good chance of getting things done. The first two years of Obama's presidency with a Pelosi-led House and an unreliable Senate majority (due to BLUE DOG Democrats), many things were accomplished and much more would have been if not for Senate filibusters - a record setting number of them. A Congress that puts Progressive legislation on Obama's desk to sign is really our only hope, which makes the Congressional races as important as the Presidential race.

PLEASE get out and vote!  The changes we seek will not be done by osmosis. And for those of you who don't vote, I don't want to hear A WORD from you when a boat anchor president is in power and running roughshod over the middle class. Not a word! If you want to sit on the sideline then you'll get what you get.

Sometimes it's hard to keep track of who to vote for in Congressional races but if you'd like to vote for REAL Progressive Democrats that will FIGHT for the people who elect them instead of corporate campaign donors or the highest bidding lobbyist, visit Blue America. They've endorsed many AWESOME Congressional candidates so make sure to check them out and vote for REAL change! Other Progressives we need to elect (or re-elect) are Alan Grayson, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. BEWARE! WE MUST DEFEAT BLUE DOG DEMOCRATS TOO! They are worse than their boat anchor counterparts because they often vote the same way but call themselves Democrats. Shameful indeed.

Please donate to and/or volunteer to help with as many campaigns as possible. I think it's important to keep in mind that many people on the right are taking these elections VERY seriously as evidenced by the ridiculous sums of money being poured into them courtest of Citizens United. They also can't WAIT to see the black man out of office.

High voter turnout is the key to victory. The 2010 midterm elections were a glaring example of low voter turnout on the Left and we lost the House (and some GREAT Progressives like Alan Grayson) because of it.  Do we really want another two or more years of John Boehner's boat anchored House?

I personally plan to help re-elect President Obama as well as Blue America and other Progressive candidates to Congress in November. After that, I plan to work even harder to hold them all to a Progressive agenda! If they fail to work for the people who elected them then we'll try something different in 2014 and beyond. One thing is for certain, the boat anchor party is NOT the answer unless you like having hunks of worthless crap strapped around your ankles, keeping you from doing anything but barely keeping your head above water. Sounds a lot like waterboarding to me!
