We now have a pivotal moment in our national history, represented by a Democratic Party that is "making a break for it," leaving behind outdated ideas and allowing the new to emerge. Perhaps this is a party willing to break ties with the Clinton-Obama mindset that placed too much emphasis on campaign finance, on an educated elite, and on technology as the defining factors of our future while neglecting the ordinary citizens who are the heart of this nation and the heart of democracy. These are the people who make society function day to day.

This new crisis in our nation's history offers an opportunity to rectify this imbalance and to choose a more balanced path within our democratic framework, reminiscent of the FDR moment when the "New Deal" replaced an old and outmoded economic system that no longer served the ordinary citizens of this democracy.

Biden initiated some domestic changes, moving in a more democratized direction and leaving behind a workable legacy as a framework to build upon. But now it is time for a new and vigorous team to carry that beginning forward, continuing to review and adjust to a world ready to emerge not only from the changes implied by a new century but also by a new millennium.

What a moment to be alive!

This is truly the chance of a lifetime-- not only to revitalize the Democratic Party but also to revitalize the democratic legacy of this nation.
