The other thing polls have shown people are questioning his cognitive ability, his age, whether he would live to finish his second term at age 86 which would mean Vice President Kamala Harris would become the new prez. She doesn't exactly score high in popularity polls. Yet Biden is committed to having her on the ticket.
He seems determined to run for reelection. If history is any guide when an incumbent president wants to run for reelection its essentially a done deal. Of course there are rumblings to challenge that history but if he is still breathing the Dems nomination is his.
Donald Trump:
I refer to what's going on with him as the "Trump follies". He's been indicted in four different jurisdictions, arrested in Georgia yet released on bail while calling it all " a Democratic witch hunt. His followers seem unfazed by the indictments against him apparently joining the chorus believing he's being railroaded by the Dems. Of course the scary thing is he could actually be convicted and still run for president in '24. If this doesn't show how far our electoral system has descended nothing will.
"Gender identity":
Firstly, I want to be clear. No person should be discriminated against for sexual orientation which includes all those identifying themselves as LGBTIQA+ (Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, intersex, queer/questioning, asexual).
That said in some states-California comes to mind-kids are exposed to gender identity even before puberty. It may be true some adolescent kids may be confused with how they view themselves sexually but how is it beneficial for pre-pubescent kids to question their gender identity? That the government should get itself in the middle of this is stepping over the line. It's state paternalism run amok.
In some states-Connecticut comes to mind-kids born male but now believe they're a girl can compete against girls in high school sports. Again let's be clear. Boys after adolescence are bigger, stronger, faster, quicker than girls. It's simply a biological fact. How is it fair for girls to compete against someone who is male even though they may now consider themselves female?
Recently a man swam for the University of Pennsylvania swim team. The following year he now said he was female and was allowed to swim for the Penn women's swim team. It should not come as a surprise he she won a host of medals as a "female". Luckily the US Olympic Committee hasn't gone along with this trend. You're born a male you compete as a male.
My sense of questioning anything connected with gender identity in America seems to make one a homophobe.
C'mon. In a vibrant democracy these and a host of other issues would be front and center, open for discussion. They're not. Why?
