Even CNN’s poll stated that Biden won as they reported: “The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. said 51 percent of those polled thought Biden did the best job, while 36 percent thought Palin did the best job.”
When Joe Biden choked up with tears reminding all of us of his loss when his first wife and child died in an accident and that he knew what it was like to be a dad raising two sons alone, my heart went out to him. What angered me was that Palin could not even acknowledge this pain coming from Biden. Acknowledgement of someone else’s emotions is paramount to me.
I do think that at the end of this debate, Biden so beautifully and humbly championed the many voices out there who feel powerless by stating, “I understand, as well as, with all due respect, the governor or anybody else, what it's like for those people sitting around that kitchen table. And guess what? They're looking for help. They're looking for help. They're not looking for more of the same.” It served to remind me why I back the Obama/Biden ticket.
In closing, this vice presidential debate, her acceptance speech at the RNC and her recent interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric served to remind all that there are two sides to this woman and we the American people must ask: Who will be the one to show up on day one to govern all of us? Will it be the pit bull with lipstick or a vice president not able to speak to all of us unless coached?
