  • Since then, the LAF has largely stayed out of direct offensive operations against Israel. Lebanon did not play a meaningful combat role in major Arab-Israeli wars like 1967 (Six-Day War) or 1973 (Yom Kippur War), partly due to its small military and internal political constraints.

  • Limited Incidents Involving the LAFThere have been rare, limited defensive or reactive incidents, but these were not unprovoked offensives or sustained campaigns by the official army:
    • 2006 Lebanon War: The LAF did not engage in direct hostilities with Israel. It mostly stayed neutral or on the sidelines while Hezbollah fought. There were isolated cases of Lebanese troops firing anti-aircraft weapons at Israeli aircraft or minor border actions, but no offensive operations. Israel struck some LAF positions/radar during the conflict.

    • Occasional border clashes (e.g., 2007-2010): These included gunfire exchanges, such as a 2010 incident where Lebanese forces fired on Israeli troops (killing one Israeli officer), leading to retaliation. These were localized and not part of a broader LAF offensive.

    • The LAF has sometimes clashed with Palestinian groups (like the PLO) operating from Lebanon to curb attacks on Israel, especially pre-1982.
