Let's consider; if the Snowden revelations had never come to light everything the NSA has done and is doing would have remained secret or at best speculated on without clear cut evidence.
But Snowden had the evidence revealing how the NSA became completely unhinged in skirting the law and became hell bent in seemingly monitoring everyone's electronic communications. Then throw in Snowden's showing the NSA's "back door" entry into soft ware manufactured in the U.S. then sold to foreign clients has now jeopardized billions in profits of U.S. software manufacturers.
Is that not in itself treason?
So why trust anything with the label, "Made in the USA". And why trust anything coming out of the mouths of U.S. government officials.
These are self-inflicted wounds and no amount of dissembling and phony pleas of "acting with good intentions, done to defend and protect the interests of the U.S. but kept secret for reasons of national security" is going put this Humpty Dumpty back together again.
This is what happens when actions taken are done with complete hubris, answerable and unaccountable to nothing.
That's omnipotence usually associated with the actions of a totalitarian state.
Too many Americans remain in denial, refuse or unable to reach that conclusion and possibly too much for them to bear but their republic is no more, something Ben Franklin feared and expressed when asked by someone at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787, "A republic"if you can keep it".
