To stifle the recruitment of many more crazed terrorists, we need to build a development army that employees, inspires, does good, and is replicated by other nations.
We need to build a voluntary National Service Corps that puts a million Americans a year into peaceful, productive service. They need to serve at home or abroad.
Many still think using guns and weapons was the "Containment Policy" that stemmed the spread of communism. It helped. But in the end, we contained communism with good works that Americans and other people did to strengthen economies and help people rebuild their lives after a disastrous war, which may have been the last truly necessary war.
Today, we need to contain the spread of "Crazies" with a peaceful, all volunteer National Service Program that fields a million "Yanks" a year, which People's Lobby calls the America's World Service Corps (AWSC) Congressional Proposal.
With the world catching on fire, you and the President should strongly call for this kind of program. It doesn't matter that we have a dysfunctional Congress in which some will not initially get behind it or anything the President proposes. What matters is that more of the world and America's citizens hear about our efforts to build it.
Let some in Congress be crazy, while you offer to build an army that peacefully and logically builds peace. America needs to put the international crazies, along with the congressional crazies, into a dunce's corner where fewer and fewer people turn to support them.
The more the world and America hears about it, the more they will support a robust, all-volunteer, National Service Program. The AWSC will help win national and international support, even while too many of our supplied or underwritten weapons kill too many Palestinians, which creates thousands of rabid, virgin-craving "Stealth Crazies."
